The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Research Associate is responsible for routine enzyme assay screening of discovery compounds, with a focus on results delivery and technical excellence. The successful candidate will contribute to production-scale enzyme assay development activities in support of target-based, lead discovery and optimization programs, and will have demonstrated the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and innovative environment. Major responsibilities include:
Execution of established enzyme assays, for the purpose of determining the inhibitory properties of discovery compounds and calculation of IC50 values.
Management of chemical inventories on-site, utilization of liquid handling automation and standard multi-channel, high-throughput automation at 96- and 384-well scale.
Providing and maintaining documentation records of work, preparation of SOPs and registration of reagents in company electronic notebook system and databases.
Assisting with managing enzyme assay workloads across the internal team and through CROs including tech transfer and support, domestic and international shipments, and courier deliveries.
Collaborating with a team of scientists to produce high quality data, suitable for downstream target-based discovery.
Qualifications and Skills:
BS in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 2 years of academic or industry experience with high throughput screening, execution of enzyme assays, inhibitor studies or lab automation.
Strong expertise in enzymology or biochemistry is a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design and execution, data analysis, record keeping and data-driven decision making.
Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks.
Excellent written and oral communication and ability to learn and manage essential technical capabilities and capacities effectively with minimal direct supervision.
