4) Completion of credential programs approved by the Department in accordance with Appendix G of this Part (CDA).

Physical Requirements:

Performance of direct specialized care with patients who have been identified as needing psychological assessment or interventions beyond the scope of general patient care practice.
This position will offer support to the different areas within the department.
INPATIENT:
Completes Level of Care (psychosocial assessment) and participates in the development of the individual treatment plan on all inpatients. Regularly consults with attending psychiatrists regarding patients' condition throughout treatment. Participates in weekly clinical staffing with the treatment team. Coordinates discharge planning in conjunction with the treating psychiatrist. Focuses on psychosocial needs of the patient including comprehensive aftercare plans and housing when indicated. Conducts family sessions whenever feasible. Facilitates legal process and documentation for involuntary admissions and medication petitions.
OUTPATIENT:
Conducts group therapy sessions and performs case management responsibilities for behavioral health patients participating in intensive outpatient programming. Completes comprehensive psychiatric and substance use assessments to determine patients' individual needs. Continuously evaluates level of risk and protective factors. Collaborates with Psychiatric NP and Psychiatrist regarding treatment planning, discharge planning and clinical staffing for all patients. Conducts in-services, provides patient referrals, and completes insurance pre-authorizations and utilization review process. Provides crisis intervention as necessary.
ASSESSMENT & REFERRAL:
Provides psychiatric and substance use assessments, crisis intervention and consultation to the Emergency Department and nursing units. Responds in person and via telephone to those in behavioral health crises. Provides psychosocial support to patients and families who are in acute distress. Determines appropriate level of care through the assessment process. Facilitates admissions to psychiatric treatment or provides appropriate outpatient referrals when indicated. Completes eligibility/benefit verifications and insurance pre-authorizations. Consults with on-call psychiatrist on all patients. Coordinates incoming transfers to Behavioral Health units from other facilities. Completes legal paperwork prior to admission. Master's degree required in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work

Loyola MacNeal has an excellent opportunity for a certified nurse assistant to join the cardiac telemetry department located at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois. Our team of registered nurses, patient care techs, care managers, social workers, residents, and physicians are dedicated to providing compassionate care to the diverse community we serve.
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) working under the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, utilizing evidence-based practice and a commitment to a safe patient care environment, our patient care techs support care delivery on the nursing unit.
MacNeal Hospital's Cardiac Telemetry department is a 25-bed unit that routinely cares for patients with complex medical conditions. Our unit specializes in angina, syncope, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias, and pre/post cardiac intervention. Cardiac Telemetry Patient Care Techs are trained in performing EKG's and phlebotomy, and certified in basic life support.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of direct patient care procedures to assist the unit manager, professional staff and physicians in providing patient care focused on the needs of the patient.
GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing care services such as bathing, oral hygiene procedures, hair care, bed pan/urinal use, skin care and garment, linen and bedding changes. Distributes meals and beverages and takes vital signs.
TECHNICAL CARE - Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, performs 12-lead ECG, obtains specimens.
EQUIPMENT - Assists professional staff in equipment supply and set up.
TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.
COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education:
Preferred: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Minimum Experience:
Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Certified Nurse Assistant, BLS (Basic Life Support) through AHA
Other: Completion of a Nursing Assistant Program with placement on the Illinois Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry or verification of an equal or higher educational level in a clinically focused program. Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.

The Bone Marrow Transplant/Hematology Unit is a 20-bed inpatient unit which treats bone marrow transplant, hematology, and oncology patients 18 and over. Four of the beds are designated as ICU beds for any bone marrow transplant patients requiring critical care. A wide variety of hematological and immunodeficiency conditions are treated, including acute/chronic leukemia, Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndromes, aplastic anemia and solid organ tumors/malignancies. Patients range from those that are newly diagnosed, requiring chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant, post chemotherapy or transplant symptom management, neutropenia, palliative care, and hospice.
