Pre-Hire Requirements
Candidates who successfully complete the above selection process will undergo a thorough background investigation which will include an interview measuring suitability and motivation, polygraph, psychological evaluation, and medical exam. A polygraph examination can be stressful and may affect existing medical or psychological conditions or ongoing treatment. Academy and Field Training
The LVMPD Corrections Recruit Academy will be held at the North Valley Bureau, 4900 N. Sloan, Las Vegas, NV 89115 over a 20-week period. Upon successful completion of the Academy, candidates will be assigned to the Corrections Field Training Program (CFTEP) to complete 10 weeks of field training.
It is imperative that candidates prepare themselves for the rigorous demands of the Academy, both physically and mentally. Academically, the Academy is equivalent to a college classroom. This, coupled with the intense physical fitness each recruit must complete, can be very demanding. Recruits should be prepared for this environment to increase their chances of successful completion.
