Division/Program Summary Description: Plant Operations is committed to supporting the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's focus on protecting and promoting the health of all New Yorkers by providing comprehensive building services. These services include multiple building trades responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the agency's owned and leased sites. The City Laborer, reporting directly to the Field and Facility Manager of Plant Operations, is critical to the continuation of public health services by assisting the maintenance team in maintaining, adjusting, and making minor repairs of building hardware, furniture, shelving, equipment and attend to building emergencies. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED and experience working in a residential setting. Knowledge and experience in the mental health field and with substance abuse. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience with trauma-informed services or training, a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED In order to perform the essential functions of this job, the employee must possess the following: A working knowledge of Riveon Mental Health and Recovery Policy and Procedures, including sensitivity to consumers and adherence to clients' rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues. WORKING CONDITIONS Most of the work will be on site at a residential living facility. The individual will have frequent client contact and must have strong speaking and language skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal skills. Some time is spent in an office environment. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods and will spend a portion of their time on the telephone. Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, and lift and push minimal loads at various times. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a residential setting. Supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of and experience in the mental health field and substance abuse required. Above average communication and written skills. The ability to work flexible hours. Basic computer skills required, including familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Candidates with educational backgrounds and training in trauma-informed and/or trauma-specific services, a plus. The necessity for travel in this job requires that the employee possess a valid Ohio driver's license with less than 6 points in a 36-month period and use of a personal vehicle.
