During this program, we seek to build a bench of next-generation scholars, advocates, and practitioners who will work to ensure that the United States prioritizes vigorous diplomatic engagement over militarism in pursuit of international peace. Research Intern, East Asia Program The Quincy Institute (QI) has an opening for a research intern for its East Asia Program. The mission of the program is to provide students and recent graduates with meaningful and practical work experience in the theory and practice of realism and restraint in U.S. foreign policy. The East Asia Program's research intern will support the program's efforts to develop and advocate fora U.S. strategy in East Asia centered on diplomatic and economic statecraft rather than military dominance. The intern will have the opportunity to attend internal and external meetings as well as QI events. Responsibilities Primarily assist in researching issues related to U.S. foreign policy toward East Asia, contributing to products that range from original policy research to rapid reaction analysis of breaking news to op-ed writing Closely follow the daily and weekly news cycle, tracking issues of relevance to ongoing research and to U.S. relations with East AsiaAssist in duties related to congressional outreach, communications, and tracking political developments relevant to ongoing research Demonstrate a keen interest in the restraint-oriented approach of the Quincy Institute and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment RequirementsEnrolled in (or have recently completed) an undergraduate or graduate program in political science, international relations, or regional studies Demonstrate academic coursework or professional experience relating to East Asian security and foreign policy issues Strong writing and research skills Proficient in basic technical skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite applications Familiarity with data analysis and visualization applications (Tableau, etc.) is a plus Advanced proficiency in Chinese or Japanese is strongly preferred $17.25 - $17.50 an hour PayThis position pays $17.50 per hour with an average of 19 hours per week. The position is based at Match Middle School, located on 215 Forest Hills St. in Jamaica Plain, MA. Match Corps tutors provide small group and individualized support to students in math and other areas. The Corps Director will apply their experience as a results-oriented educator to the professional development, individual coaching and management, and curriculum creation for our tutors in order to improve the effectiveness of tutoring and accelerate the learning of our students. The Match Corps Director will work collaboratively with students, teachers, staff, families and our GO partnership team in order to ensure that the Match Corps program is integrated into the schools effectiveness as a whole. Over twenty years ago, we launched the Match Corps as an intensive and highly selective tutoring program staffed with recent college graduates. These full-time tutors provide Match students with intensive small-group math tutoring and other forms of support integrated into the daily schedule. Tutors receive significant training and professional development to ensure they can provide differentiated, data-driven instruction. Training begins in July with other Go Fellows from across the region and continues at Match during a two-week intensive program prior to students arrival. Throughout the year, tutors have bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with their Corps Director to receive individual feedback and support. In addition to tutoring, Match Corps members partner closely with families through regular communication. Tutors also support the school program with other duties and roles. The Match Corps Director reports to the Principal. The compensation for this position starts at an annual salary rate of $108,171 and can be higher based on prior relevant experience. PM20 MATCH CORPS DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES Professional Development Design and execute a 2-week skills-based training program that prepares Corps members to be effective academic tutors and mentors to middle school students. Work in collaboration with teachers and school leaders to create and execute standards-aligned tutorial curriculum that will support student learning and growth.
