Valley Hospital Medical Center, located in the heart of Las Vegas, is a tertiary-care and teaching hospital that offers a comprehensive range of services, including advanced cardiovascular, neurological and surgical services. Valley Hospital has achieved nationally-recognized designation as a Primary Stroke Center and an Accredited Chest Pain Center. Advanced cardiovascular services include open-heart surgery, balloon angioplasty, cardiac catheterizations and peripheral vascular studies. Emergency care is available around the clock at the hospital. Among neurological services offered are coiling for brain aneurysms, neurosurgery and stroke care. Complementing the hospital’s neurology program is a neurology residency program and inpatient acute rehabilitation unit. The hospital also provides a wide range of surgical services including breast care, colorectal, gynecological, general, orthopedic, spine and vascular procedures. Endoscopy procedures are also performed. Additional services offered at the hospital include a wound healing and hyperbaric center and outpatient diabetes education and counseling. Valley Hospital is a member of The Valley Health System, a network of six acute care hospitals that provide care for patients throughout Southern Nevada and the surrounding areas. The Chief Nursing Officer is a key member of the Hospital Leadership Team who will integrate and coordinate a patient centric nursing strategy with a keen focus on patient care; ensuring that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Universal Health Services and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives. The Chief Nursing Officer will focus on 5 key areas: People, Service, Quality, Growth, and Finance. PEOPLE: Creates an environment which supports employee development and teamwork to deliver compassionate patient care. 1. Coaches and provides feedback to subordinate staff to ensure consistency of staff supervision. 2. Encourages continuous learning through mentoring, education and knowledge sharing. 3. This individual will perform procedures relative to the physiological management of patients' circulatory and respiratory functions during cardiac surgery, under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and operating surgeon. The Staff Perfusionist will ultimately join a staff of seven perfusionists. This position involves responsibilities at three locations, Valley Hospital, Spring Valley Hospital, and Summerlin Hospital. These locations are approximately 10 miles apart and offer a comprehensive range of advanced cardiovascular and surgical services. An additional Valley Health System heart program is scheduled to open in 2024 at a new facility in West Henderson, a high-growth area near the Raiders Football Stadium. Requirements: Candidate must be certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (unfortunately due to licensure issues, new grads will NOT be considered. A Nevada Perfusion License will be required (Epic financed). Candidates must demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills and communication skills necessary to interact professionally with nursing staff, healthcare team members, patients, and families. Candidates should also be self-motivated and value team collaboration, professional development, and maintain a diligent work ethic. Experienced perfusionists ONLY will be considered for this position. The Senior Staff Psychiatrist will assist in continuous monitoring of clinical services to strive to improve services as available and in line with patient/student needs. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES * Evaluate and treat patients for psychiatric conditions. * Prescribe psychiatric medication, monitor medication effectiveness, and provide follow-up care * Hospitalize students that constitute danger to self or others * Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide back-up crisis care for other clinicians as needed * Generate patient correspondence * Arrange for the appropriate transfer and discharge of patients * Maintain timely patient treatment records * Maintain adequate continuing education for clinical education requirements. * Provide culturally competent care to our diverse campus population * Comply with federal and state laws and regulations governing the practice of medicine.
