GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for providing patient care services to Broadlawns Medical Center patients in applicable specialty area as defined by approved clinical privileges.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains clinical skills in applicable specialty.
Provides direct service to patients within inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
Seeks consultation from other specialties when appropriate.
Provides ongoing supervision and consultation to assigned mid-level providers, residents, and/or medical students
Participates in departmental call schedule as assigned.
Participates in medical education programs as assigned.
Participates in meetings and committees of the Medical Staff as assigned in order to further the mission of the Medical Center.
Participates in process improvement initiatives for the organization as related to practice.
Completion of medical records is accurate, timely, and legible.
Clinical practice patterns reveal efficiency of resource management with no departure from established patterns of clinical practice using evidence based medicine when appropriate.
Appropriate education of patients and families regarding a documented plan of care.
MINIMUM OUALIFICATIONS
Current license to practice in the State of Iowa
Board certification in applicable specialty within five years of residency training, fellowship waiver approved by the Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees.

WHO: Must be BC/BE Psychiatric Physician who holds an active/clear license in the state where they reside. Consults can only be conducted in the MD's state of residence.
STATE (License-must reside in state): Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota
WHAT: Perform telemedicine videoconferencing via a secure platform that does not exceed one (1) hour per applicant to re-evaluate for psychiatric disorders, alcohol/substance abuse, self-mutilation/harm, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, legal event (underage drinking tickets, vandalism, assault, theft).
These are simple, one-time, psychiatric evaluations, with 20-30 minutes videoconferencing, face to face time, and 10-20 minutes for writing up findings that cannot exceed one hour per consultation.
Consulting Physician is NOT expected to clear the applicant for military service, but rather make recommendations on a diagnosis, prognosis, suggestions for treatment or any limitations/restrictions.
**TOP PAY RATE** $220 per 1 hr
WHEN: PRN needed. Contract is one year (on-going). Volume is extremely low. Consultations must be scheduled within 7-10 days upon request from CMO. Excellent opportunity to join a closely knit, established team of 14 physicians and 8 advanced practice providers. Additionally, we have one medical director, one associate medical director, two clinical performance nurses, and one hospitalist coordinator.
Position Highlights:
We welcome the challenge of managing various cases, varying in acuity and complexity.
Our critical care team manages all ICU patients on vents, pressors, and BiPap. Although our team may have a patient or two in the ICU, they have lower acuity and are very manageable.
If you are comfortable with procedures, you can do them. However, they are not required.
We respond to codes and rapid alerts on our patients, as well as if one is called and we are nearby. Our team is highly engaged in helping each other in any way we can.
Our schedule is predictable, as 7 on - 7 off. Generally, a working block may start with six daytime shifts and end with one evening admitting shift.
Our goal is to have 17 encounters daily, including an admission or two. This number can fluctuate depending on the time of year and staffing.
As a team, we meet monthly for a team meeting and monthly for a patient experience touch base. Daily, we have a short morning huddle to secure handoffs and ensure everyone is ready for the day.
We work in EPIC, with access to our internal informatics platform.
