Job Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer Supervisor will perform complex, non-repetitive, supervisory duties which will monitor department performance daily. Direct all maintenance team members. Ensure that all paperwork is distributed & being filled out properly in a timely manner. Maintain a safe environment to work in & to monitor all necessary procedures and to oversee the entire installation, operation, maintenance, and modification of facilities, equipment, and physical needs of the plant operation; design/adapt special production machinery; and maintain surveillance over manufacturing processes for the purpose of reducing and controlling costs to facilitate production at maximum efficiency and safety at minimum cost. Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: Direct training of team members in mechanical repairs of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical equipment. Assist team members in diagnosing malfunctions in machine and equipment. Direct team members in dismantling, assembling and installing industrial machinery during plant repair, modification and/or expansion. Interpret company policies to team members and enforce safety regulations. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department and/or maintenance crews. Conduct training programs for department team members on specific mechanical equipment. Analyze, resolve, and recommend repair, and construction and/or equipment modification; assist team members and/or contractors in solving related problems. Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to team members and outside contractors. Establish or adjust work procedures to meet project and production schedules. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Confer with manager and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments relative to equipment function and construction projects. Assist in planning, budget and recommend facility modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts and contract for construction and acquisitions Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty/function satisfactorily. Work independently in making critical decisions as it relates to regulatory state and federal compliance. Direct clearly and concisely with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Intermediate computer skills. Language Skills: Able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, and work orders in the English language preferred. Bilingual ability in both spoken and written Spanish and English is preferred, but not required. Physical Demands: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work with all types of electrical equipment and tools. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee supervises team members working near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The duties of this job requires a person to stoop, bend, work off of knees, climb ladders and work in high areas up to 130 feet, work in dark areas and work in confined spaces after trained to do so. Must be able to climb ladder and wear fall protection as necessary. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. This role will play a key part in developing the technical deliverables associated with the detailed design, CM, through commissioning start up lifecycle phases for all clean utility systems such as clean steam, WFI, purified water, clean compressed air, and HVAC systems. Role accountability Act as a technical SME point of contact for all clean utility system related queries from A/E firm and client. Attend & contribute to all Utilities reviews with A/E service provider. AME participates in the execution of new product development programs to ensure product cost, capability, and producibility targets are achieved. Specifically, this involves evaluations of the design, the supply base, the product cost, the manufacturing factory, the manufacturing process capability, and the manufacturing yield of an end item product. Knowledge of the HON Aerospace processes for Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS), Flawless Launch, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) are required. The current specific opportunity is in the mechanical aerospace component design market space. This position requires on-site presence at the HON facility located in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
