Title: PROJECT ENGINEER Reports to: PROJECT MANAGER Annual Salary: $75K - $110K+ (Depending On Experience) The Project Engineer will support, manage, and optimize Cornerstone's project management process. The Project Engineer will also act as an onsite representative between Cornerstone and the respective clients and their designates. Responsibilities: Assist in overseeing steel erection activities working with the Project Manager(s), Field Engineers, General Superintendent, Superintendent, General Foreperson, and Foreperson. Meet daily with Field Engineers and Field Supervision to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to maintain schedule and within budget. Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance. Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule. Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities in HeavyJob and Autodesk Construction Cloud Build. Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration. Provide accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and Subcontractor needs. Recommend field material and asset purchases. Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site. Assist construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site. Create project budgets from estimates. Complete weekly project cost reports. Complete monthly project cost and forecast reports. Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed. Review structural steel erection estimates and proposals as required. Assist in the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed. Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project. Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan. Ensure project and Company safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to. Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new steel erection opportunities in Alaska and other US markets. Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions. Physical Demands / Work Environment: Work is performed in a combination standard office, field office, construction site, and hybrid / home environment. This position sets department objectives to include building and maintaining a strong team, creating processes, communicating effectively and clearly, supporting, and helping the team deliver clearly identifiable objectives. This position provides strong project management focus to design and construct transmission, sub-transmission, substation, distribution, and switchyard facilities in addition to other electrical or nonelectrical projects as required by Chugach. Implements project management tools and techniques to deliver projects. Essential Functions * Utilize established management information systems to monitor budget, operation and maintenance and capital project activity. * Ensure schedules are developed and regularly updated for expense and capital projects assigned to the Department. * Oversee contract administration for the acquisition of major equipment and material, for civil and electrical construction, and for engineering services. * Oversee preparation of detailed work plans and specifications necessary for major project construction. * Review and approve expenditures within signature limits. * Submit department capital and expense budget for review and approval. * Establish project requirements for facilities construction, including distribution, sub-transmission, transmission, and substation. * Balance the use of consulting engineers to ensure project design schedules are met and that in-house resources are used in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. * Provide established written or verbal status reports of departmental responsibility areas. Provide monthly project reports detailing financial and schedule performance and alignment with budget. * Schedule, assign, and direct the work of subordinates, provide training and mentoring. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Education Bachelor's degree in engineering, required, electrical preferred. Additional specialized training in electric utility designs, construction, planning and accounting, preferred. Alaska Professional Engineer registration or the ability to obtain Alaska Professional Engineer registration by comity within one (1) year, preferred. Master's degree in project management or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, desired. Experience Five (5) years of progressively responsible engineering design or construction experience, required including three (3) years of supervisory and project management responsibility. Experience with high voltage (115 kV and greater) land and submarine cables, preferred.
