We are currently seeking to hire a Slitter Machine Operator for our Sterling Heights location. As a slitter machine operator, you will use a slitter machine to cut materials into slats of a specified length and width. Duties & Responsibilities:
Operating the machine: Loading, aligning, and cutting materials while ensuring the cuts meet specifications
Maintaining the machine: Assisting with maintenance and auxiliary equipment
Quality control: Performing quality checks, inspecting products, and documenting quality issues
Safety: Keeping the work area safe and following safety standards
Communication: Keeping coworkers informed of shift activities and documenting shift logs
Housekeeping: Cleaning the work area and arranging stacking panels
Labeling: Labeling, identifying, and packing materials
Installation: Installing spacers, knives, and rubber sleeves
Threading: Threading sheeting through the slitter
Securing: Securing strips on recoiler
Minimum Requirements:
Read and understand job tickets with close attention to film specification requirements.
Set up and operate slitter and associated equipment to slit bulk film into roll stock film as per customer specifications.
Load bulk film onto slitter line as needed, adjusting size and tension.
Troubleshoot machine stoppage and breakdown.
Perform quality monitoring checks during production runs and complete related documents-slitting checklist.
Document materials used to ensure traceability of roll stock.
Assist in wrapping roll stock film with protected layer and label correctly.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
