Responsibilities: The Specimen Processor will be accountable for the following activities under the direct and constant supervision: Accessioning clinical specimens upon receipt. Data entry into LIS system. Specimen verification, labeling, tracking, and all related clerical functions. Work cross-functionally with Client Service regarding specimen issues. General accessioning clean-up tasks, e.g. break down shipping boxes, disinfect accessioning counters, sweep and put away supplies. Performing weekly, monthly, and other periodic room and equipment maintenance procedures in accordance with standard operating procedures. Performing all laboratory activities in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program. Engaging in training and competency assessments. Helping with stocking of laboratory supplies Participating in continuous improvement activities/projects. Following the laboratory's established policies and procedures. Identifying and reporting problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Attending and participating in department meetings. Participating in activities associated with regulatory compliance and inspections. Contributing to the safety of the laboratory operations by adhering to established safety procedures and making recommendations for improvement. Working cooperatively in a team environment and supporting senior laboratory and management staff. Answer email requests from Client Services re: Accessioning requests.
