Purpose Statement
The Process Development Engineer will have responsibility of evaluating existing companywide processes and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process while utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts. Job Responsibilities & Tasks (include but not limited to)
Work cross functionally to design and develop processes throughout the organization to optimize efficient process flow, reduce process or product variability, improve process capability, and improve employee safety.
Work with both the Engineering Manager and Quality Manager to identify deficiencies, develop and implement process change such as fixture redesigns, CNC program modifications, pattern modification / redesign, changes to work instructions etc.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing knowledge and train staff as required to ensure procedure adherence and understanding. Assist with gating and riser of refiner plates for cost improvement with assistance of Engineering Manager,
Design and fabricate fixtures for production. Create CNC programs for multiple CNC machines.
Utilize 3D / 2D CAD CAM software
Education, professional experience, and qualification preferred/required
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Metallurgical or Industrial Engineering, plus 1-5 years of machining or machine shop experience.
Proven Process Development experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts.
Expert level of computer systems to include Microsoft Excel, CAD and manufacturing systems.
Must be proficient in the use of measuring and calibration equipment.
High level of problem solving skills is absolutely necessary.
Creative thinking for the best optimization of equipment and processes.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, interpersonal skills, and ability to resolve problems on a professional level.

Key responsibilities:
Lead Process Development Projects from lab optimization through pilot scale-up to commercial production.
Preparatory laboratory experimentation
Organizing and Planning Pilot Plant campaigns
Coordinating Safety Reviews
Operating equipment and Troubleshooting
Generation of Customer samples and Initial Qualification Materials
Documentation and Preparation of Technology Transfer documentation
Supports Core Stage Gate Project Teams with Project Management
Integrated Team member, working across wide range of functions and geographical sites
Works with closely with Operations to produce first successful commercial production campaigns
Key requirements:
Bachelors in Chemistry (with relevant experience) or Chemical Engineering (preferred)
Strong project management skills and agile problem solving skills
Ability to handle multiple projects
Use organizational skills to prioritize and resolve project issues. Ability to evaluate solutions and recommend action based on scope, schedule, and budget
Eagerness to work in a pilot plant environment
Understanding of Data Analytic tools and their implementation in a chemical plant environment a plus
Advanced problem solving skills in the field of own discipline, developed communication skills to exchange complex information; team player; written and oral communication in English language
Project Management skills in Scale up, Piloting, Commissioning or De-commissioning or Start up work experience.

What a Typical Day Looks Like:
Assure compliance to all Internal Policies and Procedures as well as to all External Standards (QSR, AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485).
Assist in the creation of quality, verification, and validation plans/protocols.
Facilitate process and product corrective actions and problem-solving activities.
Production process review and auditing.
Monitoring and reporting on quality metrics.
Monitor and assess of effectivity of implemented corrective and preventative actions.
Identify opportunities for improvements to the quality system and propose solutions.
Support the development, maintenance, and auditing of the Quality Management system.
Assist in development and implementation of applicable processes to meet Customer requirements, including training, problem solving, and review meetings.

Requirements
The experience we're looking for to add to the team:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or STEM area of study deemed acceptable by the hiring team.
2+ years engineering experience in related Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) position.
Ability to function effectively in a team environment
Excellent customer communication skills.
Capacity to facilitate problem solving and risk activities on a cross functional team. Effective communication skills driven by attention to detail.
Experience in risk evaluation techniques, DFMEA, PFMEA & fault tree analysis.
Experience with manufacturing processes and supplier management.
Excellent analytical skills using Six Sigma and Lean Principles.
Good working knowledge of quality/reliability engineering statistical techniques.
Self-motivated and self-managed.
Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
Printed electronic circuit board assembly industry experience (IPC and J-STD) highly desired.
