DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Preschool Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting in direct delivery of services designed to meet the developmental needs of preschool age children (ranging from Birth to 5 years of age) of the Gila River Indian Community. Work contacts include staff, children, volunteers and parents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Assist in the supervision, care, safety, protection and well-being of all children in the preschool classroom.
* Make daily observations of children documenting behaviors and/or health problems; report and make referrals of any condition needing attention to the teacher.
* Bring to the attention of the Classroom Teacher, Program Coordinator and/or Director any individual problems regarding children, staff, parents or facility.
* Assist in implementing developmentally appropriate activities as specific to curriculum and lesson plans.
* Participate in parent committee meetings and events to promote cultural awareness and diverse activities for children.
* Provide information to parents regarding their children as well as the general child development information; including parent meetings, workshops, conferences, staff meetings, special events and on-going professional and in-service trainings.

* Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, or enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate's or Bachelor's degree or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two (2) years of the time of hire and two (2) years' experience in working or volunteering with preschoolers in a group setting.

Most Assistant Teachers will start on July 15, 2025. However, we will sponsor a select group to join our Montessori Credential Program, which starts on May 27, 2025. SCHEDULES, BENEFITS, AND COMPENSATION
School schedules vary depending on community needs but generally range from 8am-5:30pm, with teachers staggered across these hours with varying start and end times totaling no more than 8 hours per day. Your specific schedule will be determined with your school leader when considering all staff, classroom, and community needs.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week), benefits-eligible, non-exempt/hourly position.
Compensation for this position is $19-$27 per hour (~$39,000- $56,000 annually). The upper third of the compensation range is typically reserved for existing employees who have been in the role for multiple years and demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting compensation will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
This role includes 22 paid days of scheduled breaks, 7 paid days of vacation, 3 paid days of personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 10 paid holidays, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with children ages 3-5
Ability to pass background checks, tuberculosis screenings, and trainings required by the state of Arizona

* Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active Montessori learning experiences
* Engage in on-going self-assessment and refinement of practice as well as in collaborative professional growth around coaching and mentoring within a Montessori environment
* Support an environment that demonstrates rapport with and respect for all students
* Lead and participate in collegial activities and meetings designed to make the entire school a productive professional learning community
* Maintain teaching skills and participate in professional development activities (both within the school community and via attendance at conferences, workshops, etc.)
* Engage with regional learning opportunities and participate in a professional learning community with other Mentor Montessori Teachers
* Follow regulations and guidelines for the day-to-day operations of the classroom, including following Bezos Academy policies and procedures
* Maintain professional credentials, including understanding regulations to stay up to date
