Under general direction provided by Site Supervisor and Area Director, plan, organize, and direct daily operations of students and classroom. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is Full-Time non-exempt compensation. Head Teachers must demonstrate the ability to work as a collegial team member with respect, trust, and professionalism with co-workers. Position Requirements

In collaboration with the Site Supervisor, conduct staff evaluations for direct reports.

Program & Environmental Requirements
Plan and implement a variety of diverse, age-appropriate activities consistent with the philosophies of NBCC and Industry “Best Practices”. Implement curriculum and activities that support the objectives of NBCC's Culture of Health.

Report all staff and child illness and absences daily to Site Supervisor in accordance to CDE and CDC requirements.
Report to the Site Supervisor, in writing, all injuries incurred by children or staff.
In cooperation with the Program Director, Educational Resource Director, or Site Supervisor, coordinate all program activities - Parent Orientations, Parent Conferences, and Parent Advisory Committees.
Develop meaningful relationships with parents through facilitation of open, responsive communication on a continual basis.
Promptly direct any relevant feedback (positive or negative issues) to the Site Supervisor in a verbal or written form.
Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, implement child behavior intervention.
In cooperation with the Site Supervisor, conduct ongoing written assessments of children and participate in semi-annual parent/teacher conferences as required by CDE.

POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is for a Teacher's Assistant full-time position (35h a week) in our Early Childhood Education Center also known as the Preschool/Maternelle (Grade PK2-PK4), for the 2025-2026 school year.
Teacher's Assistant is responsible for assisting the Preschool French and English Teachers in managing and caring for the well-being of students in the classroom, in the bathroom and on the playground within the context of implementing a program of activities that promote the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of each child enrolled in the program.
Teacher's Assistant reports to their classroom teacher(s) and above them to the Assistant Principal and Principal of the Maternelle. If and when acting as Extended Care monitor for after school care, vacation camps, or childcare, reporting is to the Extended Care Supervisor.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist French and/or English Teacher(s) and collaborate closely with them in implementing the daily program of activities based on best practices and researched principles of child development and in accordance with the program's curriculum, social-emotional learning program (Positive Discipline) and school culture.
Actively supervise students during class time, bathroom time (including but not limited to toileting and diaper changing), lunch time, transition times and during recess times. Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of autonomy, self-esteem, and self-discipline.
Assisting with diaper changes and toilet training as needed.
Observe each child daily to assess skills, interests, and needs and use this information to facilitate learning and growth.
Maintain a well-organized, safe and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children (including maintaining classroom cleanliness and keeping materials clean, neat, and arranged)
Intervene with vigilance and respect to help any child in need, prevent accident or injury to the degree possible, and in any situation requiring assistance
Establish a positive relationship with each child's family.
Perform other duties as required or assigned, including acting as extended care staff before or after school, vacation camps, and child care when requested.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in the language of teaching (French and English)
Experience working with young children (age 2-5 years old)
Bachelor's Degree
Certified in early childhood education or currently working towards the completion of one: at least 6 Early Childhood Education Units (12 would be a plus)
CPR & First Aid certified or obtain certification upon hire
Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children alone in a classroom.
Have an awareness of the unique needs of young children and have appropriate expectations of their abilities
Able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbs
Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
