Key Responsibilities
55% - Cleans galley including the brick grill, grease trap, hood vents, and steam table. Cleans mess hall (wipes tables and bulkheads, sweeps, and swabs decks). Cleans storerooms, refrigerators, freezers, and associated food preparation equipment. Washes dishes, pots, and utensils. Empties and cleans out trash and slop cans.
20% - Assists the Steward/Cook in preparing and serving meals. Makes salads, coffee, sandwiches, and other minor dishes as directed or required. Assumes cooking duties for limited periods of time in port while the Chief Cook is unavailable. Assumes cooking duties for periods at sea due to extenuating or unusual circumstances.
20% - Assists in collecting, receiving, loading, and stowing of Steward Department stores, supplies, and equipment as needed. Breaks out stores as required. Receives, stows, and issues clean linens. The incumbent must not be incapacitated by sea-sickness.
The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds is required.
Ship Operations is a seven day per week operation; therefore, weekend and holiday work may be required. Shift and/or work assignment may change based on operational needs.
In the event of health risks to the working environment while at sea, Ship Operations may need to require quarantine periods and other health & safety requirements before employees join the vessel or begin work at sea to ensure continuity of business operations.

55%- Cleans galley including the brick grill, grease trap, hood vents, and steam table. Cleans mess hall (wipes tables and bulkheads, sweeps, and swabs decks). Cleans storerooms, refrigerators, freezers, and associated food preparation equipment. Washes dishes, pots, and utensils. Empties and cleans out trash and slop cans.

Legacy Silverton Medical Center serves the heart of the Willamette Valley with a wide mix of services, many not typically available in a community hospital: CT scan (computerized tomography), nuclear medicine, echocardiography, family birth center and much more.
Responsibilities
Quality of food is maintained at a high level by following department recipes and standards so that customer satisfaction is met.
Prepare hot foods for patients according to the tally.
Prepare hot foods for cafeteria service taking into account the day of the week, house count and other menu items to determine amounts.
Prepare hot foods for catering as directed.
Assure that all foods are served at the correct temperature.
Patient trayline is served to assure patient satisfaction with food that will promote nutritional well-being.
Arrange foods in hot wells for efficient service.
Serve foods as ordered by menus.
Serve foods in correct portion sizes.
Arrange foods neatly on the plate and garnish to enhance appearance.
Room Service Operations: for those units utilizing Room Service and cook to order systems, the cook position must be able to:
Follow orders accurately to order request and diet.
Follow recipe directions
Each order is presented independently and at random times, the cook must cue and maintain work flow on cook line to maintain timely service.
Cook each meal to proper temperature
Insure proper pre-preparation of sauces and starches are prepared and maintained to meet demand.
Each meal is properly garnished and displayed for maximum satisfaction
Work with Diet Aides to meet patient needs.
Work area is maintained in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner to meet sanitation and personal hygiene requirements of the department and all inspecting agencies.
Maintain neat work area during shift.
Follow cleaning schedule as written.
Use department procedures to complete all cleaning tasks.
Departmental workflow is maintained to provide timely, quality service.
Is punctual for scheduled shifts.
Unscheduled absences are kept to a minimum.
Maintains educational level to foster safety, productivity, and effective patient care.
Attend all hospital-required in-services.
Attend department meetings or read and sign minutes.
Able to follow production sheets and recipes while meeting department budget.
Qualifications
Education:
Ability to read English.
Experience:
Experience or education in quantity food preparation. Basic familiarity with computers preferred.
