Description:
The Operator works on the plant machinery and equipment designed to generate polypropylene, adheres to established operating standards, and is always vigilant about safety processes and protocols.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Follows operating discipline, procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation of assigned duties.
Performs routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures and flow rates and transfer of products.
Monitors the process, takes readings and adjusts controls to correct deviations from set operating standards.
Controls, monitors and makes needed adjustments to all control systems and manually operated equipment.
Identifies any equipment that requires maintenance, clears and tags equipment as required, and issues Safe Work Permits for maintenance and project work.
Uses troubleshooting skills to resolve process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems.
Product transfers and transitions as required
Communicates and coordinates outside activities with outside operators, including extruder operator, and the product loading area operators.
Acts as a resource for other Technicians on job tasks and prioritization of work activities. Performs tasks assigned per task list, accurately completing all required paperwork.
Performs all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.

A current, valid, United States drivers license.
Capable of the physical demands related to this position, including frequent walking, standing working in confined spaces, climbing ladders/scaffolding to perform elevated work, repetitive motion, and occasional lifting of weights up to 60 pounds.

Applicants must meet all of the listed qualifications to be considered for the position. Those who cannot meet these requirements will not be considered. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to meet and perform these requirements upon hire.
Deckhand is responsible for the care and custody of their boat, tool, winches, jigger pumps, anchor barge, and skidder barge. They are also responsible for the care of any other equipment on the job and performing the duties prescribed by supervisory personnel. This can include helping in the engine room or on the disposal area D.A. and the operation of the anchor barge and skidder barge. Prior knowledge of the roles and duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (THIS IS NOT ALL-INCLUSIVE)

• Inspects vessel daily and reports the results of the inspection to the operator

Documents and corrects anything that could affect the crew's safety, the vessel's seaworthiness, or the vessel's mechanical integrity
• Inspects tools and supplies daily on board the vessel as per the tool and supply checklist
• Performs inspection of barges and the floating pipe. The night deckhand is responsible for inspecting lights on the pontoon lines
• Maintains excellent housekeeping of the vessel. Coils ropes and stores them as soon as they are untied, picks up tools, and stores them when not used. Keeps the decks of all barges, boats, the dredge, and the landing area clean and free of debris
• Keeps decks clean and free of trip hazards as well as clean and free of oil spills on the deck, in the bilge, and the water
• Handles ropes and pontoon lines
• Assists with repairs on the boats, dredge, or DA as directed
• Maintains vessel in a good safe condition. Greases all grease fittings, changes fuel filters, light bulbs, spotlights, work lights, engine room, and wheelhouse lights
• Assists crew as directed with repairs and maintenance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High School degree or equivalent
• Two or more years of experience as Deckhand
• Excellent safety and mechanical skills
• Ability to meet physical requirements of the position as outlined in the Functional Job Description

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION
• Weekly pay, one week in arrears

This position is accountable for providing dredge operations expertise with respect to operating levers and controls to properly position the dredge and initiate dredge excavation activities. Interacts with the all-dredge crew members to ensure that dredge operations are performed in a safe and efficient manner.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
* Works closely with the Deck Captain and Dredge Captain to ensure the safe and successful operation dredge projects.
* Operates power driven dredge to excavate and maintain navigable channels in waterways, dredging sand, gravel, mud etc. from the bottom of lakes, rivers, bays, channels, and canals.
* Controls the dredge using operating levers, positioning it properly for excavation.
* Scans depth gauges to determine depth of excavation.
* Starts powered winches that draw in or let out cable to change the position of the dredge.
* Monitors gages for proper operations and makes appropriate dissections.
* Instructs and trains the crew in safe and proper job procedures.
* Corrects safety deficiencies.
* Arranges passing agreements with other vessels in a manner to ensure vessel safety.
* Monitors tender operations and locations.
* Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
