Performs cross connection inspections. Removes backflow prevention devices no longer required, such as those connected to abandoned irrigation systems or demolished facilities. Troubleshoots, repairs, replaces, and maintains all water heaters (gas, electric, steam) and associated control and safety devices. Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools, cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine, bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe bending machine, or other means. Assembles and installs valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals. Performs basic electrical wiring for water heaters, pumps, and control devices. Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions. Performs on-call and preventive maintenance duties. Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task. Performs periodic stock inventories to prepare material requisitions for replacement. Operates customer and company motor vehicles and/or other equipment in a safe manner. Adheres to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: High School Diploma or equivalent.
