Essential Functions
* Repairs and maintains internal building plumbing systems as well as associated sanitary sewer drains. Fixes routine problems involving drains, toilets, urinals, sinks, faucets, fixtures, valves, and domestic water supply piping.
* Installs plumbing piping, fittings, fixtures, valves, and other related appliances according to the National Plumbing Code as part of a project work crew or repair team. Assists in the repairs of water distribution piping and sanitary sewer piping.
* Performs preventative maintenance on building plumbing systems including drains, strainers, and valves.
* Will be responsible for meeting and maintaining training and certification requirements as outlined by the Auburn University Facilities Management Policy: "Training, Education, and Certification Requirements for Mechanical and Electrical Trades Personnel".
* May be required to serve in an on-call status and remain work-ready when scheduled for an on-call period or rotation. Pipe Fitter
Plumber Job 29 miles from Opelika
As a Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, and maintaining piping systems. You will work with a variety of materials, including stainless steel, and use heavy equipment such as bandsaws and pipe welders. Your work will require you to read blueprints, rig piping systems, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, including fall protection.
Individuals must be willing to travel to the southeast and be gone, usually 4 days a week. Must have a valid driver's license or government issued ID. Individuals should possess basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the pipefitting field. Must be able to run a 3-4-man crew. They will be provided with a work truck and machinery needed to perform duties. These employees report to a Project Manager.
Our projects are mostly remodel work and working hours are night work.
Responsibilities of Pipefitters are required to perform include, but are not limited to:
Lay-out, fabricate, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. These systems may vary in shape, size, and pressure.
Read blueprints, specifications, diagrams, and drawings.
Ability to pick type and size of pipe and related material and equipment that is required.
Plan installation or repairs to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities or other workers.
Cut pipe using saws, pipe cutter, and pipe cutting machine.
Thread pipe using a pipe threading machine.
Secure pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools.
Fit, assemble, and install a variety of metal or non-metal pipe and fittings using approved assembly techniques.
Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipe and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks.
Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy, at heights without fear.
Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, twist, and bend for extended periods of time.
Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to work indoors and outdoors including times of inclement weather.
Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.
Must be highly safety conscious and have ability to see and escape from dangerous situations
