The incumbent in this role is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, hot water, cold water, and sewage. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for the completion of guiding the workforce and on-the-job training to inmate workers, as necessary, as well as security in the performance of the work assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Performs the installation and maintenance on return pipes and hot and cold-water lines; the laying and connecting of water and sewage lines; the installation of new and repaired plumbing and heating equipment, e.g., pressure reducing valves, make-up water and blow-down tanks, toilets and wash bowls, scullery sinks, traps, valves, pumps and a variety of oil and gas appliances. Works from building plans, blueprints, work orders, and drawing/sketches, layout work and personally performs the repair and maintenance of steams lines and plumbing lines/fixtures throughout DOC. Obtains needed supplies and materials, assures that proper materials and equipment are available to complete each task in a reasonable time schedule, lays out work, and subsequently assigns inmates to specific tasks, as appropriate. Provides on-the-job training to inmate workers.
