SHIFT: 7AM-3:30PM Performs highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems. Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Studies and makes necessary modifications to building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required, sequence of installations and efficient design and use of materials. Typical Duties * Completes daily, emergency, and preventative maintenance work orders. * Works in collaboration with other trades on construction and remodeling projects. * Locates and marks position of pipe, pipe connections, and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors using a ruler, spirit level, and plumb bobs. * Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools. * Cuts and threads pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe threading machines. * Bends pipes to required angle by use of pipe bending equipment. * Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, brass, and lead and nonmetals such as glass, vitrifies clay, and plastic using hand and power tools. * Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints. * Fills pipe systems with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. * Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, water closets, commodes, urinals, bathtubs, water dispensers, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, drinking fountains, and water softeners. * Inspects plumbing structures to ascertain obstructions and other potential problems. * Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. * Performs other duties such as brazing, soldering, or welding fixtures as needed. * Maintains work logs and records. * Requisitions materials, parts, and supplies as needed and according to specifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or GED equivalent. * Successful completion of an approved and recognized apprenticeship program or five years full-time paid work experience as a Plumber. (Must provide proof at time of interview). * Licensure as a Plumber by the State of Illinois or City of Chicago. (Must show proof of license on the application, in the certification section, or upload a copy of the license in the attachment section, in order to be considered). Pipefitter Salary: $36 per hour Key Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair piping systems Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams Cut, thread, and assemble pipe materials Ensure all installations are in compliance with safety regulations Perform inspections and troubleshooting of piping systems Work with a variety of materials, including metal, PVC, and copper Requirements: Proven experience as a pipefitter or similar role Strong knowledge of pipefitting techniques and materials Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Excellent problem-solving skills Must have safety-conscious mindset and adhere to OSHA standards Certification in pipefitting is a plus ?
