You will work with direct supervision and general direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of larger projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. You will assist in evaluating, selecting, specifying, and engineering certain Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) building systems for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include Revit modeling, preparing design drawings, performing system calculations, ductwork design, piping design, specifying equipment, field survey work, and construction administration. Your Key Responsibilities + Work with a team of design colleagues to conceptualize and develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects for multiple types of facilities such as: healthcare, industrial, commercial offices, higher education, research laboratories or similar applications. + Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer mechanical HVAC systems for a project. + Engage in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. + Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building's mechanical systems. + Prepare and revise documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details. + Participate in project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors. + Participate in client contact on projects to establish design criteria, review design progress as well as providing support through construction administration. + Support the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents. + Work on multiple projects. + Conduct field surveys of existing conditions of building spaces. + Prepare field reports and punch lists. + Provide basic mentoring to junior staff. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials + Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of mechanical codes, energy codes, NFPA codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes. + Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. + Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards. + Perform calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software (IESVE for HVAC, Trane Trace, and/or HAP). + Demonstrates technical writing ability to author a discipline specific Basis of Design. + Development of project job specific discipline specifications independently from a company master specification. + Thorough understanding of HVAC concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. + Experience in the construction industry and/or in-depth knowledge of construction processes. + Ability to integrate design elements with architects and other building engineers. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. + Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule. + Ability to take direction, follow process, and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers. + Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought. + Requires a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Prefer experience with Newforma and COMcheck. Job DescriptionWhat You'll Do: Works under general direction and requires considerable knowledge of stationary engineering and supervision: Oversees the entire operation of power plant and related systems (e.g., waste water treatment system, water plant, refrigeration system) and supervises power plant and maintenance personnel. Inspects work performed and record keeping by power plant and maintenance personnel. Monitors all systems of plant, schedules preventative maintenance on systems and equipment. Plans and directs alterations, remodeling and/or equipment modification in power plant or to related systems. Analyzes mechanical deficiencies and arranges for contractual repairs.
