The Procurement Specialist builds and leverages strong working relationships with our engineering teams, operations teams, and key suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met. Responsibilities: * Timely entry of necessary inventory orders to maintain production and escalate issues as appropriate * Review customer backlogs based on assigned manufacturing cells in order to gain broad view of upcoming requirements. Coordinate with customer service and sales regarding backlogs. * Use MRP function to order materials needed to meet customer demands on time. Place POs with suppliers as MRP drives the requirements. If necessary, work with the supplier to expedite material. * Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection * Support site productivity through price negotiations and other continuous improvement projects. * Use customer backlog and MPS function to schedule orders per manufacturing cell based upon promised delivery dates. Create work orders for the appropriate quantity of units to satisfy the customer's order. * Seek to maximize efficiency by scheduling like jobs together whenever possible. Use given tools to ensure adequate safety stock is assigned to high demand parts in order to meet potential spikes in customer demand or to mitigate supplier late deliveries.
