NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) Aircrew member performs duties in support of the operations of all aircraft assigned to applicable base location. Pilots will fly sorties for NASA and NASA customers to ensure that quality products and safe operations are provided as tasked. Aircraft are operated to meet Agency platform, research, and support aircraft requirements. AFRC aircraft are located at the main campus at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Essential Functions Operate unmanned aviation vehicle / system (UAV/S) with video recording capability in support of Marine training. Plan for optimal employment of the UAS in support of the training unit's ground scheme of maneuver. Provide continuous video coverage of training event for up to four hours, which may require overlapping and simultaneous drone employment given standard drone battery life limitations. Develop contingency plans in the event of drone malfunction. Record key events during training event based on direction from Coyotes via radio. Anticipate and communicate drone operating parameters to the government client as ; should wind, lighting, or other environmental conditions preclude the use of drone support, inform all points of contact as soon as possible. Download drone video footage to a computer for subsequent editing. Support the creation of exercise support products, orders products, and assessment tools and products. and their ability to command and control operations. Assist the MAGTF Training SMEs and MAGTFTC Exercise Control and Design Staff with creating inputs into order and scenario product development. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Skills/Experience Requirements: Must hold a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. A minimum of 100 hours of logged flight hours as a remote pilot. A combination of education and experience that displays the requisite skillset is considered. Salary will commensurate with experience.
