Takes details and deadlines from program management, and ensures the flight test process is followed, and fully executed up to, and including, the flight test. One coordinates fleet maintenance and oversees flight support and scheduling. Additionally, one supports Project Management for developmental product flight testing and training. Plans and manages all business area conducted flight operations to include; engineering tests, internal training, and customer demonstrations.
Position Responsibilities
* Writes, reviews, and maintains flight operation processes. Gains access and flight approvals on military instalments
* Coordinates and schedules range time on military installments. Serves as Government range liaison
* Formulates flight plans for developmental product testing, conduct flight testing to evaluate operational characteristics, suitability, maintainability, and reliability as required
* Ensures compliance with FAA requirements
* Collaborates with Chief Engineer, Program Managers, and other staff in an environment of rapid change to achieve team objectives
* Helps oversee safety and training efforts for pilots and flight crew. Resolve problems and conflicts affecting business operations and staff performance
* Manages the tracking of all developmental flight testing for required activities, travel, equipment, resources, and manage the flight test team assignments
* Manages the entire process of Pre & Post Flight test documentation including; flight logs, test cards, video downloads, and analysis
* Ensure proper process is adhered to for flight qualification checks (QC) on development air vehicles
* Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Often acts as a facilitator and team leader

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
* High school diploma or GED equivalent required
* Minimum of 6+ years' experience coordinating flight operations or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
* Experienced in and knowledgeable of FAA regulations
* Experienced in and knowledgeable of US customs entry/exit procedures as well as international handling
* Leadership experience with a focus on internal talent development
* Experienced planning and conducting flight demonstrations of UAS
* Experienced working with RC scale model tools and materials

Job Summary:
In this role, you will fly Bechtel aircraft as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) or Second-in-Command (SIC), and provide safe, dependable, and flexible air travel for executive management. You will assist with pre-flight planning, crewmember compliance, safety condition assessment, and with passenger services. Your work will ensure that executive travel needs are met in a secure, efficient, and timely manner.
Major Responsibilities:
Checks weather, all applicable Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), determines the aircraft weight and balance, and the appropriate fuel, oil and oxygen requirements.
Makes the final decision as to whether or not an aircraft may be safely operated. As required, consults with other departments to resolve maintenance irregularities, passenger service issues, and operational planning.
Completes an aircraft pre-flight inspection before each departure.
Conducts pre-flight planning and pre-flight briefing of operational pilots; ensures that assigned aircraft crewmembers have valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas, if required.
Ensures a Part 91 compliant briefing is conducted for all passengers prior to flight.
Assumes absolute authority relative to the safe operation of the aircraft and over other crewmembers during aircraft movement to ensure compliance with customs, immigration and sabotage laws.
Operates the aircraft in accordance with operator procedures and aircraft limitations to ensure the safe transport of key executives and their families, authorized employees, and physical assets.

NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) Aircrew member performs duties in support of the operations of all aircraft assigned to applicable base location. Pilots will fly sorties for NASA and NASA customers to ensure that quality products and safe operations are provided as tasked. Aircraft are operated to meet Agency platform, research, and support aircraft requirements. AFRC aircraft are located at the main campus at Edwards Air Force Base, California. Deployed operations, both CONUS and OCONUS, are routine for these aircrew positions.
A successful candidate will conduct full-time Pilot duties on ER-2 (U-2) and a variety of other NASA aircraft as assigned to include, but not limited to: Gulfstream III, Gulfstream IV Beechcraft King Air, C-20A, F-18 A/B, F-15 B/D, RQ-4 Global Hawk, T-34C, TG-14.
Pay Range $170,000-$185,000.

Responsibilities
Conducting flight operations in accordance with FAA, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and other applicable directives, regulations, and instructions.

Key Responsibilities:Pilot drones equipped with high-resolution cameras, LiDAR, thermal imaging, and other sensors to collect diverse datasets used for training AI algorithms, particularly for autonomous navigation, computer vision, and sensor fusion.Capture data in various real-world conditions (e.g., urban, rural, industrial, challenging weather conditions) to expose AI systems to a wide range of environments and scenarios.Execute complex drone missions with precise data collection objectives, such as aerial mapping, 3D reconstruction, obstacle detection, and object tracking.Collaborate closely with AI engineers, machine learning specialists, and autonomous systems teams to ensure data collection aligns with the specific requirements of AI model training.Perform post-flight data quality checks and initial preprocessing to ensure the datasets are ready for use in training AI models.Operate drones in both manual and autonomous modes, supporting AI-driven flight operations where drones rely on onboard algorithms for navigation and decision-making.Adhere to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and local aviation regulations governing drone operations, ensuring the safe and compliant conduct of all drone missions.Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of drones and onboard sensors to ensure the highest standards of performance and reliability.
Qualifications:Commercial drone pilot certification (FAA Part 107 or equivalent), with additional certifications in safety or advanced drone technologies considered a plus.Proven track record as a drone pilot, with significant experience in collecting data for industrial, research, or AI-focused applications.Expertise in flying drones equipped with advanced sensors such as LiDAR, thermal cameras, RGB cameras, and multispectral sensors.Familiarity with the nuances of autonomous flight, sensor integration, and machine learning workflows, especially those that involve real-time data processing.Strong understanding of how drone-collected data is used for AI training, including its role in training AI for perception, navigation, and decision-making.Experience in using software for flight planning, such as Pix4D, DroneDeploy, or similar platforms, and geospatial data analysis tools.Familiarity with machine learning concepts, especially those related to computer vision (e.g., image segmentation, object detection, and tracking) and autonomous navigation systems.Basic understanding of geospatial data processing, photogrammetry, and 3D reconstruction techniques for AI applications.Strong attention to detail with a commitment to ensuring the highest quality of data collection and analysis.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
