Job Summary:
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication as required to meet the needs of a long-term/post-acute care pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist must adhere to the company's quality and customer service standards, policies and procedures, as well as the State and Federal guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Verification for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders. Check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling including emergency drug kits and IV medications
Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies)
Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs
Work with appropriate pharmacy technician in reconciling Controlled Substances perpetual inventory as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations
Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record
Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions
Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management
Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Current Pharmacist license active and in good standing in the state of practice

Bachelor's degree or Pharmacy Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy
Minimum of two (2) year's recent experience in an acute-care setting or one (1) year experience as a production pharmacist preferred (not required).
Experience and knowledge base of intravenous admixtures services and intravenous therapy desired.
