ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide Pharmacy Non-Dispensing Services. For example, utilize Statewide Protocol for Prescribing of Hormonal Contraceptives, Tobacco Cessation Products, and Statins; Diabetes Education; Blood Pressure Monitoring; and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services.
Review prescriptions for drug interactions, incompatibilities, and accuracy.
Consult with providers as necessary to clarify prescriptions.
Review consumer profiles for potential drug interactions, duplicate therapy, and appropriate dosages.
Direct pharmacy technicians engaged in counting, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
Answer questions and provide information to pharmacy consumers on drug interactions,
side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
Keep informed of all local, state, and federal laws covering the storage, handling, and dispensing of drugs and for interpreting each prescription order to determine that it meets all legal requirements.
Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
Enter data, such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacyfiles, charge system, and inventory.
Follow departmental policies and procedures.
Follow the professional code of ethics for pharmacists.

Education:

This faculty member in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy will practice as a member of the multidisciplinary teams at the Anschutz Outpatient Cancer Pavilion of the University of Colorado Cancer Center (UCCC). The UCCC is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado. The UCCC is affiliated with the UCHealth system and is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Colorado. This faculty member will have clinical responsibilities (30% time) primarily focused in either Neurologic, Breast, or Hematology clinics (specific practice site will be determined by the time applicant screening for this position begins). Faculty in this setting provide a variety of clinical services including provision of drug information and provider education, supportive care management, drug counseling on anticancer treatment and investigational agents, medication review and toxicity monitoring for patients enrolled in clinical trials, and support for UCHealth P&T and Specialty Pharmacy initiatives. In addition to clinical practice, the successful candidate for this position will have academic responsibilities in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (70% time). The UCCC is located on the Anschutz Medical Campus of the University of Colorado in Aurora, Colorado. The UCCC is affiliated with the UCHealth system and is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Colorado. This faculty member will have clinical responsibilities (30% time) primarily focused in either Neurologic, Breast, or Hematology clinics (specific practice site will be determined by the time applicant screening for this position begins). General Purpose:
