Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
· Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies (e.g. vaccinations, fecal loops, slides, etc.) for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician. Set up fecals, smears, and skin scrapings as allowed by state rules and regulations.
· Maintain the flow of the Cycle of Service in accordance to position. Provide Client Education regarding preventive care, Optimum Wellness Plans, and basic status of hospitalized pets. Serve as support to the Client Services Coordinator staff on an as-needed basis.
· Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation.
· Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests (e.g. canine heartworm, feline leukemia, FIV, and canine parvovirus) as allowed by state rules and regulations.
· Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients. Ensure the comfort of hospitalized patients by "walking", exercising, feeding, and cleaning cages and pet (when approved by the veterinarian or veterinary technician).
· Bathe and dip pets when necessary to treat dermatological conditions (when advised by veterinarian or veterinary technician.
· Clean the surgical suite and instruments.
· Ensure cleanliness of the hospital including but not limited to housekeeping such as laundry, dishes, mopping, cage cleaning, trash collection and removal and instrument cleaning as outlined by hospital protocols

Heritage Manor, a privately owned personal care home located in the Brentwood, south of Pittsburgh, is looking for Resident Care Assistants to assist our wonderful residents in maintaining their independence and dignity in a compassionate and homelike atmosphere. The Resident Care Assistant functions as a member of the Resident Care Team and reports to the Director of Resident Services and the Lead Medication Technician.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Walking face to face rounds with oncoming/outgoing shift personnel to communicate pertinent information about residents and their care.
2. Walking face to face rounds of assigned residents/floors every 30 - 60 minutes.
3. Take resident emergency call within 1 minute of call.
4. Arrive to resident and reset call pendent within 10 minutes of call being placed.
5. Complete resident emergency call on CAT call device accurately and timely.
6. Treat residents with dignity and respect.
7. Assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living, including, but not limited to showers, shaves, grooming and changing clothing.
8. Care of incontinent residents, and assisting with toileting of continent residents that require it.
9. Serving meals, clearing and cleaning tables, removing table clothes and making sure the floor in the dining room is safe with no spills or debris.
10. Emptying trash cans and laundry bins in rooms and on Cart at the end of your shift, and as needed throughout shift, as necessary, disposing of trash in the appropriate dumpster immediately after removal.
11. Assist and/or escort residents to the dining room. Report those residents who are ill.
12. Deliver trays to residents with an illness and assist with eating if required within two hours of the dining room serving time.
13. Make residents beds to quality standard daily. Strip beds of linens and remake on shower days and as needed when soiled.
14. Note when personal care supplies are low, document and report to the Lead Medication Technician.
15. Removing soiled clothes from residents/resident room and placing items in appropriate bin in cart to be taken to laundry room by end of shift or as needed. Washing, drying and folding laundry as needed. Then assisting residents with putting clothing away.
16. Maintaining cleanliness of Resident and linen closets.
17. Encourage resident participation in daily activities and transport them to activity as needed.
18. Demonstrate courtesy in all interactions with residents, visitors, colleagues and supervisors.
19. Ensure residents' privacy is protected at all times. Knock on doors, announce yourself and ask if ok to enter.
20. Ensure that Residents always have a clean washcloth and hand towel in their bathrooms at all times.
21. Use universal precautions when caring for residents, their possessions and their private space.
22. Document pertinent resident information in progress notes accurately, timely and professionally.
23. ATTEND MANDATORY IN-SERVICE MEETINGS and required trainings.
24. Must remain on duty and working until replacement arrives.
25. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills required: Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize tasks, make sound decisions and show good judgment is a must.
