Job Description:
a. Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
b. Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patient /youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness;
c. Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure;
d. Work with other disciplines as part of Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth;
e. Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth;
f. Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or
developmentally disabled patient/youth;
g. Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes;
h. Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments;
i. Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
j. Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by the CDCR/CCHCS; and
k. Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.

The Hall Ambulance EMT Academy is an 8-week intensive, PAID training program. As a Hall Ambulance employee, you will undergo classroom-style and practical hands-on training to learn emergency medical care.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
After successfully completing the training program: Respond to medical emergencies in the community. Assess illnesses and injuries and administer basic emergency medical care. Operate emergency vehicle and equipment to care and transport the patient effectively. Complete patient records and transfer of information to healthcare provider. Provide compassionate patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Arrives to work on time and as scheduled in order to comply with mandated Company and EMS standards.
• Administers first-aid treatment and life-support care to sick or injured persons in the pre-hospital setting.
• Assesses nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical treatment procedures. Manages or assists paramedics and nurses in the management of illness or injury for emergency patients in accordance with specified protocol and procedure.
• Performs emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures listed in the State EMS Scope of Practice, such as splinting, medication administration, stomach suction, airway management and heart monitoring during ambulance transport.
• Operates equipment such as EKGs, external defibrillators and bag-valve mask resuscitators in advanced life-support environments.
• Observes, records, and reports to a healthcare provider the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided and reactions to drugs and treatment.
• Effectively coordinates patient care with other emergency medical team members and police and fire department personnel.
• Communicates with dispatchers and treatment center personnel to provide information about emergency situations, to arrange reception of victims and to receive instructions for further treatment.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of patients for transport, ensuring compliance with emergency medical transport regulations, protocol and procedures.
• Inspects emergency medical equipment and vehicles to ensure serviceability and compliance with safety and infection control regulations and standards.
• Completes and transfers patient care information and records as per established procedures. Takes every reasonable precaution to maintain security and protection of sensitive data.
• Provides comfort and reassurance to patients and patients' family members.
• Safely operates emergency vehicle in accordance with state law and company protocols, including during stressful situations.
