Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides ongoing hands-on support to clients and care teams treating clients with substance addictions and other behaviors that interfere with their quality of life. This position is primarily responsible for monitoring clients through their treatment episode, supporting the implementation and coordination of treatment plans, and supporting the end goal of a clients living a substance-free lifestyle. The BHT at times may face a variety of problems that range from simple to complex and may need to assist with interventions. Researching, consultation with others, and developing solutions is an expectation and routine part of the daily duties. This position may encounter situations that require sensitivity, flexibility, and confidentiality, as well as the ability to influence others. Additionally, the BHT provides aid to Case Managers, Counselors, Admissions, and other departments as needed. Position Accountability Duties: Client Monitoring & Support Monitor and supervise clients and living areas daily, prioritizing safety, well-being, and program engagement. Assist clients transitioning to a substance-free lifestyle, guiding them to treatment sessions and activities. Observe detox clients face-to-face every as required by withdrawal management protocol, ensuring their stability. Conduct routine inspections, confiscate contraband per policy, and maintain professional boundaries. Treatment Coordination Support Clinical team, Admissions, and other Direct Care staff with client care and administrative tasks. Adhere to medication policies Complete accurate daily reports (e.g., head counts, incident logs, shift pass downs). Recognize crises and provide intervention support per ATA and crisis intervention procedures to keep clients focused on treatment. Team Collaboration & Problem Solving Communicate effectively with staff, contributing to team morale and quality care. Responds to instructions from dispatch and drives the emergency vehicle to specified locations. Determines nature and extent of illness or injury, or magnitude of catastrophe, in order to establish the basic life support procedures needed to be followed, basing decisions on statements of persons involved, the examination of victim or victims, and knowledge of the emergency medical practice. Removes or assists in the removal of victims from vehicles, or the scene of an accident or catastrophe, and assists in the transfer of victims to receiving facilities. Takes and records a patient's vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate. Administers prescribed treatment at the site of an emergency, or in specially equipped vehicles, performing such activities as first aid, immobilization of injuries, application of splints, administration of oxygen, treatment of minor wounds or abrasions, or administration of basic life support procedures. Assists admitting and billing personnel to obtain and record information related to the patient's vital statistics and to establish the necessity for medical transportation. Completes field care report patient billing /trip ticket and daily driver's unit checkout form. Assist with equipment, medication, and supply inventory management On-call coverage. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic Qualifications: California state EMT card required. American Heart Association or Red Cross Healthcare Provider CPR Certification required. CA driver's license required and must have an excellent driving record. Medical Examiner's Certificate required. Ambulance Driver's Certificate (ADC) required. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Preferred Skills/Experience: Knowledge of modern EMS principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Reading, writing, comprehension, and basic mathematical skills are required. Critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems. Must maintain calm in stressful and chaotic situations. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing, walking and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times with or without assistance.
