Duties will include:
Escort patients to and from the exam room and complete the patient intake according to protocol
Clean and straighten exam room between patients
Prepare syringes and administer subcutaneous and intra-muscular injections
Assist provider with injectable procedures
Prepare pathology and lab specimens and route them to the correct lab as required by the patient's insurance
Respond to patient questions in office and via phone as instructed by the physician
Schedule or re-schedule appointments with providers, specialists as necessary.
Work in compliance with OSHA, blood borne pathogen standards
Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA standards
Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records
Trains other employees on medical assistant duties as required by the practice
Assist with check-in or check-out procedures at the front desk when needed as a backup
Perform additional duties as required
Provider will work independently or under direct supervision of Physician in a collaborative and patient-centered environment.
Qualifications:
At least one (1) year of medical assisting experience (preferred)
Completion of a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant program
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and able to work well within a team
Professionalism and strong customer service skills are a must
Able to communicate with doctors clearly and concisely
Able to communicate with patients and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner
Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, stand for prolonged periods (i.e. an hour at a time)

Performs or assists residents in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the patient's plan of care. This includes assisting residents in performing restorative exercises, collecting specimens as directed by nursing staff. Assessing and documenting completed cares. Provide feedback to nursing staff immediately on status or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and other important concerns.
Assists with restocking supplies and maintaining appropriate work environment in unit including cleaning procedures.
Participates in providing emotional, educational and spiritual support for families.
Complies with all aspects of resident rights including confidentiality and privacy. Reports all allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
Understanding and following established policy and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemical communication program. Maintains an environment that is clean and safe for all residents, families and staff.

* Immediately prior to the start of any procedure in the procedure room, initiate/participates in a time-out and ensures correct patient, procedure, site and side, and that there are no additional concerns.
* Identifies every patient with two identifiers: full name and date of birth
* Documents this information in the Procedure Safety Checklist, including the time of the time-out
* Sterilizes and breaks down procedure room after each patient and ensures procedure room is cleaned prior to the beginning of a procedure.

* Maintains stock of medicines and supplies as necessary. Advises Office Manager when replacements are needed.
* Sterilizes and cleans instruments used in examinations and/or procedures; maintains clean and hygienic environment.

Set up of monitor and alarms.
Perform vital signs, height, weight and head circumference.
Patient Services - Daily LivingPatient ADL's include but not limited to daily bath, skin care with mouth care and peri-care.
Ensure proper nutrition as ordered (ng, gt, or tray).
Care of tube feeding and feeding of patients.
Application of skin creams as directed by RN.
Collection of cultures, urine and stool samples, etc.
Direct Patient CareRecognize and report pain and skin breakdown.
Prioritize tasks and special requests from RN.
Assist in performance of trach care and EVDs.
Assist with central line dressing, pin care, cast and traction care and care for dying patients.
Assist with preparation of room for discharge and admission; assist with patient flow by maintaining a neat and orderly environment.
Obtain equipment and supplies and maintain PAR levels.
Monitor SurveillanceObserve and alert RN when there are monitor deviations When assigned to monitor bank will follow the monitor guidelines to dress code and professionalism.
Infection ControlCare for isolation patients.
Adherence to hand washing before and after every patient.
Clean equipment after each patient's use.
DocumentationDocument on nursing database, flow sheets and vital signs in a timely manner and notify appropriate charge nurse in computer or chart as suitable.

Remain on unit during assigned shift, notify Charge Nurse and appropriate staff members when leaving the unit for patient care related errands; leave patient care area only when assigned shift is completed, replacement staff member is present, and report is given.
Use designated staff areas for eating, smoking, and socializing (perform only during assigned breaks).
Work area is left in a neat and organized fashion.
Use downtime productively during shift.
Attend mandatory in-service/educational programs to learn about new procedures, skills, products, equipment; attend staff meetings.
