Situations can involve but not limited to vehicular, industrial and residential accidents, injuries or illness and can occur anywhere in North Caddo Parish. At times, the work requires movement over various types of terrain sch as hilly, steep, rocky, rough and/or wet slippery surfaces. The EMT Paramedic at all times must be able to carry or assist to carry someone from site of the injury to the mode of transportation and ride with the injured party to the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the Paramedic must be able to see, hear and communicate with the injured patient. Work shifts are normally set as a 24 hour shift. Some shifts are and can be subjected to be longer. Paramedics must be prepared to stay overnight with enough uniforms and equipment to do so. Uniforms MUST be kept clean and neat according to Hospital policy. The uniform shirt will be North Caddo EMS T-shirts or North Caddo T-shirts for sponsored events such as Breast Cancer awareness. Uniform pants will be blue or black EMS pants. Footwear will be black work boots or black tennis shoes. Any other garment outside of this shall have the approval of the EMS Director PRIOR to wearing. All units are required to have two pagers and one portable radio. The EMT Basic shall have the portable radio on at all times, If ay any time a unit notices that equipment is missing, he/she needs to report it immediately to the Supervisor. Additional job duties or functions may be requested per administration to assist in other areas of the hospital within your capabilities.
