Responsibilities Functions at the level of a Paramedic according to the Ohio EMS Board Scope of Practice and within the constraints approved by the Dayton Fire Department Medical Director. Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury of the patient upon arrival at the scene and administers basic and advanced emergency health care to victims until victims are delivered to a hospital emergency room. Assesses the extent of injury to entrapped patients and gives all possible emergency care and protection. Assists other rescue team members in removing the patient. Performs station maintenance and house watch duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or (G.E.D.). All certifications must be maintained to the standards of the Ohio Department of Public Safety's EMS Division, as a condition of employment. License Requirements Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment. Special Requirements
Must be able to successfully perform all tasks required of this position. Vision without correction must be a minimum of 20/100 in each eye. Corrected, vision must be a minimum of 20/40 in each eye. Wage Considerations In accordance with the 2024-2026 I.A.F.F. contract, when the City hires new EMT and Paramedic personnel, who were City employees, or who were EMT or Paramedic personnel with another employer, the newly hired EMTs or Paramedics will move to the step rate of pay that is closest to, but higher than, their current rate of pay. If the external is paid higher than our current pay rate, they will be moved to the top step of the pay band. The employee will progress through the contractual wage steps in accordance with the time frames dictated in the wage addenda. This language will apply if an external paramedic is hired as a City EMT.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of employment and wage information at the time of offer of employment. A PPT EMT responds to dispatched medical and/or injured patients transport requests. Transporting patients to a pre-designated hospital, clinic, home, nursing home or other medical facility. PPT EMTs provide necessary medical care at the sending facility when requested, and during transportation to the receiving facility. All medical care is provided under the EMT's scope of practice in their licensed state. EMTs are also monitored and under the medical direction of a PPT Medical Director in their licensed state/states.
Minimum Requirements
Must hold a current and in good standing, EMT license/licenses for the state/states they will be working in. Must provide proof of credentials, credentials will be verified.
Hold a current BLS/CPR card.
Hold a current, valid state issued drivers license with less than 5 points and no significant moving violations withing the last three years. For non-drivers- a current state issued ID.
Must hold a current EVOC certification- can be obtained in house.
Clean criminal background check.
Must be able to pass a drug screen.
Must be able to provide a social security card or valid/current work visa.
Physical Requirements

Duties to Patients
All patient care must begin with friendly introductions to your patient and/or patients' family if they are present.
Obtain a good patient care report from the nursing staff. IE: chief complaint, treatment received, treatment needed enroute, acuity etc.
Gather all patient care paperwork and patient belongings if any.
Safely move patient to the stretcher and secure with all straps.
Complete a thorough patient assessment, obtain 2 sets of vitals at minimum. Patient vitals must be reassessed every 15-30 minutes depending on patients' current status, length of transport etc.
Must be able to give a good patient hand off report.
Complete an accurate EPCR, obtain all appropriate signatures and attach all appropriate paperwork to the EPCR. EPCRs must be completed by the end of each shift.
All patient care must be delivered appropriately and within your scope of practice or per Medical Control Direction.
All patient care MUST be delivered with compassion and respect regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, personal beliefs etc.

Responsibilities:
Conducts personal and professional business with ethical, legal and moral integrity always.
Observes and completes physical and psychological assessments of children following high level behavioral intervention (safe room orders) as outlined in the policy to adhere to OMHAS expectations and standards.
Document and report observations, physical and psychological status, and overall intervention assessment on agency forms for the State of Ohio.
Supports high level behavioral interventions, as ordered by psychiatric staff, in collaboration with trained agency staff members.
Assesses on-site injuries and completes State Incident Reports.
Assess unwell children to determine if the child needs to leave daily programming.
Audit on-site First Aid kits and coordinate maintenance of supplies.
Coordinate with emergency services, as needed, in a crisis by providing first aid or care and communicating with EMS staff as necessary.
Interact with children in a professional, positive manner.
Adheres to the Positive Leaps Model of care.
Adheres to all Positive Leaps Policies and Procedures.
Communicate effectively with parents, peers, supervisors and visitors, and maintain confidentiality of children and families in treatment.

Basic Job Functions:
The EMT will work as the Shift Safety Coordinator to ensure the safety and security of Nucor Steel Gallatin and its teammates. General Function

A PPT EMT responds to dispatched medical and/or injured patients transport requests. Transporting patients to a pre-designated hospital, clinic, home, nursing home or other medical facility. PPT EMTs provide necessary medical care at the sending facility when requested, and during transportation to the receiving facility. All medical care is provided under the EMT's scope of practice in their licensed state. EMTs are also monitored and under the medical direction of a PPT Medical Director in their licensed state/states.
Minimum Requirements
Must hold a current and in good standing, EMT license/licenses for the state/states they will be working in. Must provide proof of credentials, credentials will be verified.
Hold a current BLS/CPR card.
Hold a current, valid state issued drivers license with less than 5 points and no significant moving violations withing the last three years. For non-drivers- a current state issued ID.
Must hold a current EVOC certification- can be obtained in house.
Clean criminal background check.
Must be able to pass a drug screen.
Must be able to provide a social security card or valid/current work visa.
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift and maneuver 125 pounds, 250 pounds with a partner.
Must be able to move/change large oxygen tanks appropriately.
The ability to walk up and down stairs, assisting a patient in a stair chair or similar device.
The ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Must be able to carry/move/assist patient and/or needed equipment on foot in all kinds of terrain, IE: drive ways, uphill/downhill, throughout hospital hallways, residences etc and in all kinds of weather IE: rain, heat, snow etc.
Must be able to wear face masks and all PPE for extended periods of time.
Must be able to see and hear, use of aids is permitted.
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
Must be able to read and write.
Responsibilities
Must arrive to work on time, in full, appropriate uniform and ready to work.
Must clock in/clock out on time or as directed by your supervisor.
Must maintain good personal hygiene.
Have medical knowledge pertaining to your scope of practice or above and the ability to perform skills within your scope of practice or as directed by physician/medical control.
Perform daily truck inspections appropriately and in a timely manner.
Must maintain cleanliness of the ambulance and stations IE: wash trucks, take out trash, sweep, mop, clean station etc
Must restock truck supplies as needed and appropriately.
Must respond to transfer requests in a timely manner.
Must communicate with dispatch, other co-workers, Hospital staff, the patient and patient's family appropriately and respectfully.
Must understand contamination risks, how to properly don and doff PPE, decontaminate yourself, the truck, and your equipment.
Must be able to obtain a good patient care report, patient documentation/charting, and how to give a proper hand off report.
Must know your state protocols.
Must follow your appropriate chain of command.
Duties to Patients
All patient care must begin with friendly introductions to your patient and/or patients' family if they are present.
Obtain a good patient care report from the nursing staff. IE: chief complaint, treatment received, treatment needed enroute, acuity etc.
Gather all patient care paperwork and patient belongings if any.
Safely move patient to the stretcher and secure with all straps.
Complete a thorough patient assessment, obtain 2 sets of vitals at minimum. Patient vitals must be reassessed every 15-30 minutes depending on patients' current status, length of transport etc.
Must be able to give a good patient hand off report.
Complete an accurate EPCR, obtain all appropriate signatures and attach all appropriate paperwork to the EPCR. EPCRs must be completed by the end of each shift.
All patient care must be delivered appropriately and within your scope of practice or per Medical Control Direction.
All patient care MUST be delivered with compassion and respect regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, personal beliefs etc.
