JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Job Responsibilities: Drives fire apparatus including aircraft rescue fire fighting vehicles to fire and incident scenes. Transports equipment and safety personnel safely and quickly to and from a fire and rescue scene assuring adequate water, chemicals, and equipment are supplied. Operates apparatus at fire scenes. General Statement of Job Hiring Salary: Up to $25.5522 per hour *56 hour work week, with 5 years of experience. Candidates who are a current Florida State Firefighter II and possess a Paramedic Certification prior to employment will receive an additional one time $10,000 certification payment at the end of their probationary year. The Coordinated Opioid Recovery (CORE) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) plays a key role in the Community Paramedicine program through patient outreach, engagement, and follow-up care. This position focuses on proactive, patient-centered care to reduce opioid overdose, improve health outcomes, and connect individuals to appropriate treatment services for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities Provides exceptional customer service and patient care under the direction of the CORE Community Paramedic for patients facing crisis from Opioid Use Disorder in a safe, courteous and professional manner. Participates in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes. Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities Completes required initial and ongoing training/continuing education (CEU) courses, as required, to maintain current state and county certifications and licenses; maintains a current copy of licensure, registration and/or certifications with Human Resources. Arrives for scheduled shift on time and ready to perform duties. Conducts pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure sound vehicle operations; maintains an orderly vehicle and ensures the vehicle and equipment are clean, stocked, organized, and response-ready. Provides quality patient care under the medical direction of the program's physician, operations manager, and the CORE Community Paramedic, including vital assessments and medication administration as per protocol. Conducts follow-up visits for patients enrolled in the CORE Community Paramedicine Program, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to treatment plans. Assists in the induction and stabilization of patients on Buprenorphine for Opioid Use Disorder treatment under established protocols. Educate patients on harm reduction strategies, medication adherence, and available community resources. Engages in public outreach surrounding the Opioid Epidemic and distributes naloxone and educates patients and community members on opioid overdose prevention. Work collaboratively with EMS, hospitals, and community partners to coordinate care and referrals for long-term treatment. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Maintains thorough working knowledge of the vehicle and equipment, its function and use, and reports defective equipment and supplies to the Field Operations Supervisor, as required. Maintains a neat and professional appearance at all times in accordance with Company policy and Standard Operating Procedures. Adheres to all Company Policies and Procedures, TransCare Standard Operating Procedures and Medical and Protocol Manual; directs any questions or concerns to the Field Operations Supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Clinical duties include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, and assisting the physician during the examination. Perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians, and other health practitioners running smoothly. Instruct patients about medications prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician; authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy. Prepares exam rooms for patient visits; measures vital signs, data collection and appropriately documents information. Research, respond to, document and see to appropriate conclusion all clinical tasking Document current medications and prescriptions that need to be renewed. Instructs patient how to prepare for the physician (assisting as necessary). Anticipates/sets up special equipment and/or supplies needed for the visit. Alerts the physician when patient is ready and communicates pertinent clinical information. Assists patient through check-out process when visit is complete. Cleans and prepares room for next patient. Responds to needs to expedite visits and keep on schedule. Ensures cardiac clearances and medical clearances are sent and received back in time for ASC procedures, contacts, explains and documents anticoagulation discontinuation. Checks and clears fax boxes in accordance with the workflow. Assists the physician with patient care during the visit. Adheres to hand hygiene and standard precaution guidelines. Provides care appropriate to age group of patients in practice setting and documents data per practice protocols age-appropriate vital signs measurements. Perform other duties as required.
