Personal, crew, patient and bystander's safety: scene size up, emergency scenes are dynamic events; the paramedic should always look out first for their safety and then the safety of others. 2. Patient Assessment and delivery of care: provides patient care functions according to protocol, procedure and written directives to level of certification. Performs a patient assessment throughout a call on every patient encountered, providing appropriate treatment and transportation decisions within the PIII scope of practice. 3. Maintains and improves skill level and knowledge base: attends/participates in 75% of annual departmental training and completion of annual Skills Competency Fair. 4. Lifting and moving patients: ensure proper lifting, moving patients safely and effectively. Assist with movement of patients to and from stretcher and wheelchair. 5. Transport and Transfer of Care: verifies patient identification prior to transport, contacts receiving facility prior to delivery along with providing a patient care report, also providing safe delivery to or from the hospital and aircraft. Transfer the patient to the appropriate facility and health care provider giving complete/accurate verbal patient care report. 6. Record keeping and data collection: neatly and accurately completes written and electrical Patient Care Reports (ePCR). 7. Patient Advocacy: assist patient with special concerns that will need to be brought to hospital personnel's attention (i.e. geriatric patient who may require additional home care). 8. Completes daily equipment checks and maintenance: assures equipment readiness, including cleaning as needed or required, along with proficiency in equipment operation safely, repairs within scope of abilities, and reports deficiencies when noticed to supervisor and relief crew. 9. Assures geographic knowledge of service area (communities, towns, cities and counties), utilizing appropriate map/GPS reading skills. 10. Checks MediTech, HealthEMS and other information devices while on duty daily. 11. Drives vehicles safely and prudently, motor vehicle report (driving record) must be approved prior to employment and insurance eligibility must be obtained throughout employment. 12. Arrives for assignment and duties at appropriate time, working all locations assigned. 13. Level III requirements: 1. Have had no disciplinary issue (counseling) within the last 12 months. 2. Received a score of Meets Expectations or greater on the most recent Annual Performance Evaluation. 3. Has 1 year of experience in the St Joseph system operating as a PII. 4. Must meet a clinical and documentation "average" or better to apply. 5. Must participate in a PIII level special team (FTO, SCT, CP, etc) and meet all interdepartmental credentials and qualifications of that team. 6. Must actively participate in New Hire Academy and PII Academy. 7. Must actively participate in department CE. 8. Key Responsibilities: Assess emergency resources available to determine triage plan and treat most serious injuries first. Evaluate the patient's condition on the scene and perform preliminary diagnosis and treatment. Coordinate with medical director, NP or PAs for additional medical advice. Provide advanced notification for preparing medical facilities to service incoming patients. Follow procedures and perform all reporting requirements. Leading and or participating in team response to an emergency. Drive ambulance equipment in response to radio transmissions. Participate in emergency medical/fire drills as scheduled. Attend training as required. Respond to emergency calls and assess patients' medical conditions. Coordinate and supervise EMTs within scope of practice. Perform in support of field emergency situations; Intravenous (IV) line insertions, venous blood draws, intraosseous (IO) access, intubation, medication administration, and 12-lead electrocardiogram with interpretation, and knowledge of a wide range of emergency medications. Assist medical providers with procedures and treatments within the licensed scope of practice. Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications and care administered. Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine sufficient inventory levels; anticipating needed items. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: U.S. state-licensed Paramedic NREMT Paramedic (Preferred) with National Registry EMT-P, or current unrestricted license. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Advanced trauma course (PHTLS, ITLS TCCC, etc.). Ability to work in a high-stress environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. Education Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent or Associates or Bachelors in related field. Certification as a Paramedic from a recognized program. Physical Requirements: Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. Other Special Qualifications: US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Valid US Passport with at least 6 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Applicants with current clearances are preferred. Must be able to relocate for the duration of the project.
