SUMMARY
The Painter is responsible for preparing the product per instructions and operating various painting equipment and methods without supervision. This position must be able to titrate spray wash and adjust as needed. The Painter also inspects material for any runs, sags or unpainted areas and retouches as required per specifications. The role will perform required maintenance on paint equipment as needed. A successful candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker with excellent attendance who utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all paint quality levels are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular and punctual attendance at work is an essential job function of each position and is necessary to your individual effectiveness and that of your work group. Regular and punctual attendance is required of all employees.
Prepares product prior to paint application.
Prepares paint equipment as required.
Paints product per job instructions.
Takes mil thickness readings and adjust when out of specification.
Performs cross hatch paint adhesion test.
Checks all parts of paint booth for wear or malfunction and replaces as needed.
Assists in cleaning of paint booths.
Handles paint, paint related materials, and hazardous wastes properly.
Changes color modules for paint booths.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent knowledge (preferred).
Working knowledge of powder paint booth & powder coat process.
Must be able to read and understand bill of material.
Must be able to titrate and adjust chemical level seven-stage spray wash. May also perform advanced wet painting.
Must be able to adjust machine as needed to maintain excellent quality and production.
Must be proficient at troubleshooting most common recurring problems without assistance.
Must be able to correctly complete the production report as specified in the standard operating procedures.
Internal training per standard operating procedures and training sheet.
Required OSHA safety training

Responsibilities
Painter - $19.25-$21.00/hour
* Prepares surfaces for coatings, as required, for all assigned interior or exterior tasks
* Makes minor repairs as required, evaluating historic fabric for in-kind replacement of materials
* Performs painting/staining tasks, as assigned, ensuring quality and professional work is always completed and the proper coating color, sheen, etc. is applied
* Accountable for the care, maintenance and security of all assigned materials, equipment and tools
* Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and complies with all current related codes and regulations
* Maintains a location-specific paint log indicating all aspects of products and where utilized
Painter Lead - $22.75
* Performs interior and exterior painting tasks as assigned.
* Jobsite oversight of other location painters to ensure:
* Assigned equipment and tools are properly cared for, maintained and accounted for.
* Quality, professional work is completed.
* Safe working conditions are established before work begins and maintained while work is in progress.
* Assists the Tradesman Lead, Assistant Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Manager evaluating the skill levels of location Painters and General Maintenance Technicians so that painting tasks can be effectively assigned.
Qualifications
* Have at least one year of commercial painting experience
* Be proficient in the operation and use of equipment and tools common to the painting trade
* Have general knowledge of OSHA requirements
* Be capable of and willing to advance his or her painting knowledge and expertise through on-the-job training and self-study
* Must be at least 19 years old and possess a current, valid, driver's license with a good driving record
Physical Requirements Include:
* This position will require the use of respiratory protection and will require compliance with applicable regulations, including a clean-shaven face and to be able to pass a DOT physical
* Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds
* Must possess physical stamina to withstand heavy labor related to work in an outside environment
* Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions
* Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required
