We currently have a career opportunity available for an experienced Painter to repair, maintain, upkeep and replace the hotel's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Wall preparation, wall covering, wall and furniture finishing etc. Apply paints, stains, primers, varnishes, epoxies and other protective coverings to prepared surfaces. Prepare surfaces as needed and remove old paint when necessary. Properly prepare work areas by removing furniture, laying drop cloths and protecting work areas and occupants from spills, splatters and dust. Maintain inventory of painting supplies and materials, and keep work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Estimate quantities and help select paints, wall coverings and other materials as needed. Hang wall paper, vinyl wall covering, wall guards and similar materials. Must know how to mix and blend paints to obtain desired colors. Must be able to estimate time and determine appropriate types of paint to use on various surfaces. Assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned. Requirements: Must have prior experience as a professional Painter, and provide references. Knowledge and experience of porcelain and ceramic tile installation . This position requires standing/moving/lifting heavy objects during the entire shift. This is a guest contact position; excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Exceeds: Installs plastic laminate when constructing shelving and cabinetry in house. * Assists with the design and building of renovation projects. * Estimates and recommends the quality, cost effectiveness and best use of materials ordered. * Installs and repairs walls and doors. Exceeds: Installs vinyl wallcoverings such as acrovyn and corner guard products. * Installs and repairs floors including stair treads and base cove. * Provides assistance to back up the locksmith by installing, repairing, and replacing locks and door hardware. Exceeds: Fabricates, issues and records keys when needed. * Builds and repairs new and damaged walls. * Hangs Drywall and is able to work with metal studs. Exceeds: Able to tape and finish drywall ready for painting. * Repairs windows and frames, replaces screens, hang pictures and mirrors, and other safety equipment as necessary. * Installs and repair Acoustical and Solid surface ceiling systems. * Performs all preventive maintenance and repairs on carpenter ship equipment. * Performs painting and staining when applicable. Facilities Support * Maintains inventory of stock needed for frequent repairs in facilities. * Assists other members of department with performing required duties. * Performs other duties as assigned. * Helps to move furniture and other designated pieces of equipment. Information Management * Accurately uses the hospital information system to enter and retrieve maintenance related data. * Demonstrates knowledge of the work order system. Requirements: Education - High School Diploma / GED Experience - The candidate should have a minimum of three years' experience as a carpenter's helper or Journeyman level and possess a good working knowledge of the trade terminology and tools. This position requires the ability to perform precision work with power tools and to work with staining and gluing products. Licensure - NYS Driver's License Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 20 pounds, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, as well as repetitive use of hands and fingers.
