The painting projects are wide-ranging, so your job will be different every day. You'll work with wood, fiberglass and metal vessels in a well-equipped shop with a team of people who will be your peers and mentors.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
* Assess and obtain project materials
* Work as a team member and communicate effectively
* Wash, scrape, sand and fair interior and exterior surfaces
* Apply finish coats of paint/varnish by hand, brush and spray systems
* Clean equipment and work areas
* Operate compressors, sand blasters, spray systems
* Erect various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders
* Follow specific mixing and application processes
* Follow regulatory guidelines and safety standards

Responsibilities
Performing support duties to assist journeyman painters and other apprentices. Prepares surfaces and applies paints and other coating materials to a variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. The use of scaffolding, ladders, staging, and scissor/boom lifts at various heights is required.
Knowledge
* Work safely and comply with all OSHA and company guidelines
* Work in a team and coordinate work functions with fellow workers.
* Work while wearing required personal protective equipment.
* Learn how to safely operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.
* Adapt to changing working conditions
* Perform heavy physical labor and manual dexterity, including bending, crawling, kneeling, stooping, climbing, twisting, reaching, carrying, and lifting heavy objects weighing up to 75lbs.
* Bend, crawl, walk, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods of time
* Work as a self-motivated team player
Requirements:
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
* Have reliable transportation to and from the Job Site. (Be able to commute within 60 miles from your home residence.)
* 2-year commitment with 288 hours of classroom instruction per year.
* Must be at least 17 years old
