The purpose of this position is to perform the necessary painting duties at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center, by assuring that the interior and exterior of all buildings are kept in a good paint repair and that ICF sanitation standards are met.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: 6 months experience as a painter.
Preferred Criteria: Minimum of 3 years apprenticeship or equivalent on the painting trade.
Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess a valid Kansas driver's license.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to wear supplied air respirator and manipulate attached air hose.
3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral

JOB PURPOSE
This position is responsible for preparation and painting of agricultural parts as part of the fabrication process.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
This position performs routine duties independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Most of the work is performed in an industrial environment that is heated but not air- conditioned. The noise level in the work area is normally moderate but may occasionally exceed moderate levels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Paint various types of agricultural equipment parts.
Paint parts with even coverage and no runs (high quality finished results consistently)
Set up, adjust, and maintain painting equipment such as paint guns and hoses.
Spray prepared surfaces with primers or finish coatings.
Remove parts not intended for painting and mask other surfaces with tape or paper in order to protect them from paint.
Take part in quality assurance of products.
Dispose of hazardous waste or solvents in an appropriate manner.
Maintaining the paint booth including housekeeping tasks, filter changing, and organization of painting area.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES

Technical
1 year trade school or equivalent experience in an automotive or industrial painting environment preferred.
Knowledge of paint products and usage.

Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (Level 3 Medium Work).
Ability to work in an environment that does not have air conditioning.
Ability to pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and if necessary, a fit test.
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to frequently lift, carry, bend, stoop, and/or reach.
Ability to grip 5 pounds for extended periods of time (weight of a paint gun)
