    • Select paint according to engine build book • Mix water-based paints to match MTU viscosity specifications, including mixing requirements for polyurethane (Delfleet) paint, hardener & thinner • Use manual or power mixing equipment (based on standard) • Adjust nozzles and air pressure to the standard for each particular paint in order to meet the proper paint flow and coating thickness • Monitor painting operations in order to identify flaws such as orange peel, dry spray and runs as to meet MTU standards • Strong ability to troubleshoot paint applications and match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and paint pots using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths for cleaning duties • Spray prepared surfaces with primer and/or topcoat finish coatings • Dispose of hazardous waste associated with the paint process in an appropriate manner according to MTU specifications • Install accessories on the engines according to the engine build book • Use electronic torque wrenches to install accessories to the engine • Mask surfaces according to MTU standards with tape, foil, bags or pre-cut stickers in order to protect them from paint • Position and align components for paint using hoists • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas according to departmental housekeeping standards • Provide training to personnel as specified in the departmental training matrix • Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in assembly and other production related areas • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct. Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of experience in operating painting machines and painting surfaces of transportation equipment, such as engines, automobiles, buses, trucks, trains, boats, and airplanes

• Strong knowledge of painting methods and techniques, including the ability to formulate and mix paints, operate, clean, maintain and repair (perform basic repairs) of paint equipment

• Strong knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards

• Strong ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving the arm or while holding the arm and hand in one position

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees

• Strong oral and written communication skills • Basic reading, writing and math skills

• Ability to operate large hoist systems and obtain appropriate power vehicle license (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary

• Ability to wear a respirator as required by OSHA and work with cleaning chemicals

• Basic PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate a computer and/or scanning devices

• Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel

Preferred:

• Two years in a mechanical or automotive paint trade
• Knowledge of MTU products, policies, and procedures
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
