PURPOSE: Assists the Grocery Manager and the Grocery Third Person in the operation of the Grocery Department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Champions Company and Division customer service programs to meet or exceed Division customer service goals. Handles customer relations in a positive manner, including effective resolution of customer complaints. Promotes Albertson's philosophy of personalized service.
Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking, rotating and merchandising duties. Assists the Grocery Manager and the Grocery Third Person in planning, organizing and directing day-to-day operations of the Grocery Department. Assists in implementing Company and Division merchandising policies and/or Store Director instructions. Controls shrink. Prevents the sale of out of code product.
Ensures compliance with Company sanitation, safety, security and other policies. Initiates corrective action as needed.
Opens and closes the store. May act as back up cashier. Engages in suggestive selling other sales techniques.
Responsible for performing all job duties with accuracy, honesty and integrity.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a thorough understanding of overall Company practices, policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aids necessary to perform job duties throughout the Grocery Department.
Exposure to approximately 35° Fahrenheit while handling products in cold cases, approximately 28° Fahrenheit in the cooler and -20° Fahrenheit in the freezer.
Working conditions consist of a temperature-controlled store environment. Exposure to varying temperatures while working in the loading and receiving area. Occasional exposure to outdoor environment when checking store perimeters and conducting business off premises.

JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES:
The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. Prepares cartons/carton displays, manually packs/palletizes product, and completes final quality inspection of finished goods.
* Prepares cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling cartons, securing carton ends together and placing cartons/trays on the work area. Checks to ensure tape guns/taper have sufficient amount of tape.
* Visual Inspections of final product packaging for product integrity including, but not limited to bag registration, code dates, prices, bag and cases for proper seals. Removes out of specifications product and communicates packaging problems.
* Fills cartons/displays based on packaging specs. Ensures that products are packaged in cases with appropriate corresponding labels; if applicable tapes and seals cartons.
* Stacks correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using correct stacking pattern. If applicable, utilizes pallet jack to move finished goods weighing up to 300lbs.
* Clears loose product from turntable/area; discards defective bags, boxes, trays; sweeps loose product off the floor.
* Assists with product rework according to plant expectations.
* Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
* Keeps work area clean/adheres to 5S protocols.
* Stores packaging room supplies in designated areas.
* Keeps work area aisles/exits clear and free from obstructions.
* Removes trash from work area floor; keeps turntables/area clean; follows instructions for safe lifting/carrying of various sizes, shapes and weights.

A. Safety
Responsibilities in this area are to comply with safety rules and to report any unsafe conditions to the shift and/or facility supervisor immediately.
Keep corrugated in neat order throughout the day.

Qualify in the safe use of manual pallet jacks; use of caution when operating the power and manual equipment.
B. Quality
1. As you are packing, it is critical that you do the following:
Flatten each unit as it is packed down. This is to ensure that the customer receives a product that is uniform in shape so it will fit inside their containers.
Perform both pressure (squeeze) and visual tests on each bag to ensure that no leaking or weak seals are present.
Report any issues to the machine operator or above.
Be able to produce to S.O.P. with correct counts.
Ensure all products from the previous production run have been removed from the production line.
2. As you are stacking, it is critical that you do the following:
Ability to multi-task and perform the list of checks for product quality as defined by the standard operating procedures.
Ability to help in equipment preventative maintenance (PM) process. (i.e., cleaning, inkjet printer flush out, etc.)
Always check for things like product packages flat, correct & legible part number on boxes and use of correct pallet sheet.
Perform weight audits on boxes to help ensure the correct quantity and weight gel packs are packed according to the product specification sheets.
Ensure all products from the previous production run have been removed from the production line.
C. Productivity
1. Responsibilities in this area include:
• Understanding what product is being manufactured on the production schedule.
• Ask questions of the Packers or Operators to ensure they know what part number should be on pallet sheet and markings on box.
• Ability to consistently lift to an average box weight of up to 50 lbs. all day, every day and keeping up with line flow.
• Ensure that all finished good product boxes are lifted and placed on the pallets keeping the boxes upright, level, and straight.
• Keep all layers on the pallet even so the stack is square like a cube and centered on the correct type of skid for each stack pattern customers' needs.
• Keep the stacking area warehouse neat, orderly, and clean which includes daily sweeping. This duty will expand to other areas of the warehouse when time permits.
•. Prior to each startup, it is your responsibility to prep boxes and prepare partitions for the product to be manufactured each day.
• Pack the correct number of units in each case. Please refer to the product specification sheet to ensure that you are aware how many units should be in each case for different products.

Summary : The packer is responsible for selecting and packing customer printed products in an efficient manner.
Schedule :
2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 1:00 PM - 9:30 AM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.
3rd Shift, Sunday-Thursday, eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs. Primary schedule will be 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM, or similar. Training may occur at other times.
Salary Range: $15.00 To 17.00 Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Work in collaboration with main Cutter Operator for provided instructions which will indicate specifications of form/batch cuts
Identify quantity of form and type of stock to secure correct boxes for packing of product
Off-load product from cutter tables and ensure order sticker label is eligible and visible for delivery
Conduct initial inspection of products to ensure quality control
To ensure compliance of orders, track inventory by physically counting product orders by order number
Accurately and safely box completed jobs and notify quality control teammate/supervisor when completed boxes are ready for inspection
Ensure materials on hand are organized and replenished
To include boxes (to be made and kept on hand at inventory standard), tape guns, filling, chipboard dividers, markers, others as needed
Place boxes in appropriate and safe floor locations under/near packing table
Maintain bins, when full relocate to back lot for recycling and replace with empty bin
Ensure set up is complete for shift change
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Regularly perform general housekeeping duties in your work area(s)
Adhere to all safety policies and protocols and maintain a safe working environment
Attend all department/company meetings

Job Title: Production Packer The Production Packer will safely handle, inspect and pack finished product into erected shipping container boxes to be sealed and processed to the Stacker or Robot for palletizing. Reporting Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
A. Safety
1. Responsibilities in this area are to comply with safety rules and to report any unsafe conditions to the shift and/or facility supervisor immediately.
2. Keep corrugated in neat order throughout the day.
3. Keep packing area clean and clear of debris and gel.
B. Quality
1. As you are packing, it is critical that you do the following:
a. Flatten each unit as it is packed down. This is to ensure that the customer receives product that is uniform in shape so it will fit inside their containers.
b. Perform both pressure (squeeze) and visual tests on each bag to ensure that no leaking or weak seals are present.
c. Report any issues to the machine operator or above.
d. Be able to produce to S.O.P. with correct counts.
e. Ensure all product from the previous production run has been removed from the production line.
C. Productivity
1. Responsibilities in this area include:
a. Prior to each startup, it is your responsibility to prep boxes and prepare partitions for the product to be manufactured each day.
b. Pack the correct number of units in each case. Please refer to the product specification sheet to ensure that you are aware how many units should be in each case for different products.
c. Ensure that the proper code is being printed on the boxes by the inkjet printer (if required).
d. Can perform the at the standard productivity rate on all products.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
• Ability to read English to interpret and translate standard operating procedures.
• Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
• Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable state safety and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
• Basic math and counting skills, must pass a verbal math test by reading questions out loud to show reading and comprehension ability as well as showing methods for solving word problems.
