The Candler/Packer job is an entry-level position responsible for monitoring and removing poor quality eggs from the machine while in operation and/or packing cartons of eggs in cases, racks, or trays. Employees in this position are expected to focus on their safety, as well as their co-workers, maintain an organized, clean work area, and ensure product integrity. Responsibilities Ensure that the quality of the product being packed meets or exceeds USDA requirements. Remove poor quality eggs properly and in an efficient manner. Comply with all USDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, SQF, Safety Programs, Biosecurity Policies, Plant Procedures, HACCP and Food Defense Programs. Remove any B Grade eggs that the graders cannot identify and remove. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Packing good product in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring there are no missing eggs, bad cartons, or cases. Removing cracked or dirty eggs and replace. Monitor quality of stamps on eggs when applicable. Dispose of any eggs or trash dropped on the floor and place in proper trash receptacle. When encountering recurring problems, notify machine operator or management immediately if you notice any packaging problems such as double cartons, wrong dates, or broken eggs. Assist with training of other team members as needed. Fulfill additional tasks as assigned by Processing Supervisor, Processing Manager, and General Manager. Without the QA specialist confirmation, or in their absence the confirmation from Manager, the production and packing of any products is not allowed to commence. Check with the Quality Specialist the Julian Date for the production day. Check all the units for the code date, make sure it is visible, complete, legible and in the right spot. Check all the units for leaks by squeezing them and checking the seals and the corners for any potential leaks. Discard any leaking units into the reject bin for rework. If there are any discrepancies identified when comparing to the specifications, set the product in the reject bin for rework. If the incident is not isolated, notify the Operator and the Quality Specialist immediately so the machine can be stopped, the cause for the problem identified and corrected, before continuing production. If the quality of the packaged unit is questionable, consult with the Quality Specialist before packing or rejecting the product. Assemble the cases per the instructions. When applicable, label the cases. Pack the good, packaged units into the cartons, according to the specifications. Ensure the correct number of units is packed in each case. Stay in permanent communication with the operator, resolve any issues timely, and make sure the line is always running at the maximum allowed speed according to the product being packaged. Maintain the area clean throughout the day. Pick up any sugar spills promptly. During film / pouch changes or at any downtime, take care of the regular sanitation activities of the area. At the end of the shift, clean the area and leave it ready for the next shift, sweep and clean all the area. Completes other warehouse production duties as needed. Job Details Experienced Georgetown Plant - Georgetown, TX Full Time High School None First Shift Assembler/Packer As a CPI Assembler/Packer, you will Perform a wider variety of repetitive assembly of the company's products into complete packages and/or sub-assemblies per engineering drawings and customer specifications. May perform additional packaging tasks including but not limited to: generating and placing labels on packages, operating small production equipment, component installation and fitting assembly units. The Assembler/Packer II can rotate throughout the different functional stations of the assembly processes from TeraFrame to Mixed Model line to Cabling Section to Accessories, etc. Responsible for meeting safety, quality and productivity expectations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Under minimal supervision, selects, inspects, assembles and/or packages product for final shipment to customer. Applies labels and palletizes per specifications. Inspects and maintains workplace for compliance with safety requirements. Corrects any safety issue prior to performing operations. Requisitions packaging material from warehouse, when necessary. Inspects material for shipping damage and/or supplier defects. Inspects product per finished goods inspection procedure. Informs Team Leader of any component that needs to be reworked or scrapped. Certifies that each product has completed Quality Assurance processes via Quality stamp. Works from blueprints, engineering specifications and production schedules. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS: Continuously maintains a clean work area. Disposes of trash and production scrap. Assists in cleaning common areas. Performs other related duties, as assigned by management.
