Combines leftover good material into finished rolls and palletizes for shipment to the customer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Mounts slit rolls of product onto shaft of machine using lift cart. Removes rolls as well. Sets up and makes necessary adjustments to the machine. Must be able to identify defects and splice good material together per spec. Reads and understands specs of products being run. Must know packaging materials required for palletizing finished product also. Occasionally uses hand tools to prepare packaging materials. Completes daily production reports. Operates stretch wrap machine to wrap finished pallets. Regularly cleans machine and surrounding area. Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations. Follows plant safety rules. Formalized training process and designated trainers eliminates this point. Other duties as assigned. This should include but not be limited to entering new lots, set up recipes, set up formulas, start systems, stop systems, understand and prioritize alarms, etc. etc. Included in the alarm phase of this task be able to troubleshoot and understand how to correct present alarm and where the existing alarm correlates to the operation at hand. * Follow the weekly mill-run Schedule to insure the mill grinds the wheat requested. * Dismantle re-bolt sifters weekly to clean, inspect and replace damaged screens. * Log all transfers and mixes of semolina, and reasons for downtime (to lines) when applicable. * Comply with the environmental policies and procedures at Barilla Ames facilities including energy efficiency, reduce - re-use - recycle goals, reporting requirements and sustainable initiatives. Complete any environmental tasks as assigned ans report environmental concerns immediately. * Follows ISO22000 policies and procedures, address / communicate quality and food safety issues as they occur. * Facilitate detailed communication with maintenance personnel. The Equipment Operator is proficient in the operations of underground utility equipment (ex. horizontal directional drill, vibratory plow, excavators, skid steer). They must possess excavation knowledge on OSHA regulations and safe excavation practices - benching, shoring, and excavating around live underground utilities. This role works closely with the Foreman on identifying potential hazards in excavation and conducts job site analysis. Often fills in for the Foreman when the Foreman is required to be off site.
