Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate machinery, ensuring the first run and sample workpieces meet specifications by observing operations and conducting inspections.
Read blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications, including wire type, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
Select, install, and adjust tooling according to production requirements, setting forming speeds and feed rates accordingly.
Perform routine lubrication and preventive maintenance inspections, maintaining the machinery in good working condition.
Assist other machine operators with setup, stacking, marking, packing, and transporting finished workpieces, while maintaining a neat and organized work area.
Requirements and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; experience in cold heading, pointing, and/or threading is preferred.

Abrasive Form is a world leader in high precision Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) machining. We manufacture turbine blades and vanes for many of the largest gas turbine manufactures and militaries around the world. We use high precision CNC milling, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and 3 and 5-axis creep feed and CBN grinding.
The Milling Operator has critical areas of responsibility for setup, selecting and mounting the appropriate cutting toolsand machining of parts on 3-axis and 5-axis grinding, and EDM equipment to meet our increasing customer demand. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, committed to safety for self and the team, hungry to learn and make improvement, a high standard for quality and process compliance, and a team player.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operates 3-axis Milling machines per customer specifications.
Selecting and running CNC programs as well as checking that finished workpieces meet all specified dimensions and tolerances
Monitor the machining processes and makes suggestions for process improvements in production, quality, and company performance.
Complete fixture teardowns and machine set-ups as needed for a specified job.
Proactively complete daily asset care requirements and subsequently escalate as needed maintenance issues to the immediate supervisor and maintenance team using established maintenance ticket process.
Keep work area clean, organized, and free from clutter. The machine must be wiped down each shift.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent
1 year manufacturing experience in tight tolerance production.
3 axis milling required
Strong math skills demonstrated through assessment during hiring process.
Must be able to measure parts within tight tolerances.
Must be able to read indicators and use tools as detailed above.
Ability to read, write, and speak English for customer, job and equipment specifications.

Experience in operating 5 axis grinding machines

Ensure that the rewinder is threaded and all guards are in place, raw materials (metal, cores, packaging) are loaded correctly, minor jam-ups are cleared immediately, and the machine is rethreaded

Ensure rolls are checked for quality (visual inspection for tears, holes, barber poling, etc...).
Ensure when packed, individual boxes are properly glued and are of first quality.
Use motorized material handling equipment to move materials in and out of the work area
Keep accurate record of production
Accomplish these tasks through the safe and efficient use of rewind and packaging equipment, motorized material handling equipment and the application of all company required good housekeeping practices
Strictly adhere to and be aware of all Company health, safety and environmental policies and practices
Deal with the Lead Hand, Set up Specialist, Production Supervisor, other Machine Operators, Operator Packers, Set-up personnel and Maintenance personnel
Ensure that personal interactions with all plant workers and management are professional and courteous as is reasonable to ensure efficient plant operations
Perform most tasks based on well-known and understood Company standard practices and procedures
Overcome presented challenges in the determination of the cause of poor-quality materials or when poor equipment performance cannot be rectified
Contact Lead Hands, Production Supervisors, Set-up personnel and Maintenance personnel for required assistance when issues arise and in cases of mechanical or electrical failure of equipment, or when dealing with more complex quality issues
