Summary CHS, Inc. is looking for a Terminal Operations Specialist to join our TEMCO team, a joint venture between Cargill and CHS, Inc., in Tacoma, WA to record and monitor the loading of vessels/railcars and unloading of railcars with a PLC system. Vessels and rail cars will be filled with agricultural commodities to be distributed around the world. Responsibilities Compile daily inventory balance analysis and reporting. Coordinate timely shipping orders and compliance with specifications. Ensure timely and efficient product loading and unloading (truck, barge) while maintaining quality. Perform routine terminal maintenance activities ensuring equipment is operating efficiently. Maintain cost effectiveness within operating budget. Maintain terminal operations and customer orientation to ensure outstanding service is provided. Monitor equipment and operational procedures, make recommendations for equipment repairs or replacements to maintain and enhance productivity at the terminal. Develop knowledge of USDA grain standards and USDA export loading regulations. Assist the Terminal Manager and Assistant Terminal Manager to ensure compliance with environmental health and safety programs and take corrective action as needed.; Maintain all required documentation. Provide work direction and assistance for more junior team members. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Monitor weights and grades of rail, ship, barges and trucks as well as maintain grain inventory quality. Participate in and conduct employee and contractor orientation: review facility rules, safety policies and programs, regulations and operational processes. Ensure product quality standards and customer requirements are met with emphasis on operating safely and efficiently. Work with FGIS on daily and quarterly basis, regarding safety and housekeeping inspections and compliance. Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned. Minimum Qualifications (required) 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Pipeline Production Operations Additional Qualifications Experience with terminal automation/instrument systems, electrical systems, operation of centrifugal pumps, atmospheric storage tanks, truck and rail car loading/ unloading, and pipeline receipt operations High School diploma or GED preferred Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs a variety of skilled activities in maintaining and repairing City infrastructures, to include roads, right of ways, and easements. Duties may include installing, repairing, and maintaining mains, pipes, catch basins, ditches, valves, hydrants, stations, pumps, and meters; maintaining and repairing road surfaces, shoulders, and bridges; installing and maintaining pavement markings and traffic control devices; sweeping; and fabricating and repairing traffic signs. Performs maintenance and safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems requiring skilled knowledge in order to determine need for repair and to identify problems. Responds to inquiries, complaints, and service requests to include marking location of lines, detecting leaks, billing, and water quality. Operates a variety of equipment such as trucks, boom trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, vactor trucks, and forklifts. Performs operational checks and preventive maintenance activities and reports needed equipment repairs. Performs site maintenance activities such as applying pesticides; mowing, trimming, pruning, removing, and planting vegetation; painting; and litter control. May operate, maintain, and repair specialized equipment, instruments, electrical panels and meters, water meters, and cross connection control devices. Directs and controls traffic, to include placing traffic cones and signs; flagging traffic; and closing lanes and streets. Maintains reasonable, predictable, and regular attendance during the standard work week. Responds to emergency events and situations, to include snow, ice, power outages, and flooding. May serve as lead on projects to seasonal employees. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry): * Maintenance and repair methods and techniques in area of assignment; * Basic operations and equipment maintenance techniques; * Safety precautions applicable to area of assignment; * Tools and equipment used in area of assignment; * Laws and regulations applicable to area of assignment; and * Troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures related to systems maintained. SKILLS (position requirements at entry): * Performing skilled maintenance activities related to area of assignment; * Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment used; * Using hand and power tools; * Applying traffic control techniques; * Mowing right of ways and easements and trimming trees and shrubs; * Applying customer service techniques; * Reading and recording information from gauges and meters; * Constructing and repairing piping, valves, mains, hydrants, and meters; * Operating vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license; * Establishing and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships at all organizational levels and with the public; and * Communication, both oral and written, sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Education, Experience and Other Requirements TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (Position requirements at entry): High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and three years of general maintenance or operations experience in area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. * Valid Driver's License with applicable endorsements; * Class A CDL with tanker endorsement preferred at time of hire. The City may choose to send an applicant to school to obtain their CDL depending on other qualifications; * First Aid and CPR certification; and * Flagging Card. Some positions may require additional licensing such as Washington State Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's license, Waste Water Certificate I,Water Distribution Manger I.T, or Water Distribution Specialist Certificate.
