Duties During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include: Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area. Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.     Court Security Officer Division: Common Pleas Court Contact Name: Amy Starner, Judicial Assistant Contact Email: [email protected] Contact Phone: ************ Contact Fax: ************ Date Posted: 3/6/2025 Position Location: 1 North Park Place, Newark, Ohio 43055 Position Description: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Screens all persons who wish to enter the courthouse for weapons and other harmful objects, utilizing the magnetometer, hand-held metal detector, and x-ray machine. * Maintains communications with court bailiffs and other security/law enforcement personnel regarding security-related issues and emergencies. * Takes steps to control emergency situations at the entrance level, including summoning proper assistance. * Directs the flow of the public and professionals entering and exiting the building in a courteous but cautious manner, paying special attention to abnormal behaviors. * Conducts searches of those entering when suspicion warrants such action. * Prepares appropriate reports of disturbances and accidents. * Conducts searches of the building and grounds as part of daily security checks and patrols the building and grounds as necessary when full staffing exists at entrance. * When staffing thresholds are met and the need arises, may provide bailiff duties and other court security assistance for the court. * May assist in short-term after-hour supervision of prisoners pending official transport to a secured facility. * Assists in transportation of juveniles in custody of the Court. * Performs other related duties as required and directed. * Assists with oversight of security issues and daily operations for the Probate-Juvenile Court. * Maintains open communication with judges, magistrates, court staff, attorneys, parties, families, youth, outside agencies, and the public. * Maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. * Provides safety and security support and training for court staff and departments. * Assists with installation, monitoring, and maintenance of security cameras and equipment necessary to monitor security at the courthouse and the Licking County Juvenile Court Assessment and Resource Center ("A.R.C."). * Investigates incidents occurring in the courthouse, at A.R.C., and surrounding grounds, and reports and documents any incidents or security issues. * Responds to emergency situations and directs staff and public accordingly. * Assists Court Services and law enforcement as deemed necessary, including but not limited to, detaining, handcuffing, monitoring, escorting, and transporting youth and adults when needed. * Wears an approved uniform, carries an approved firearm, and provides proof of training, certification and annual firearm requalification. * Other duties as assigned. Program: Probate-Juvenile Division Brief Description: This position is responsible for ensuring all persons entering the Licking County courthouse are screened to prevent the presence of weapons and other contraband inside the building and to provide general overall security for a safe and secure environment for the judges, court personnel, those doing business at the courthouse, and members of the general public. ? Job Prerequisites: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function, duty, and responsibility satisfactorily. In addition, all qualifications, education, uniform/equipment, and certification requirements must be met. This position additionally requires an individual to possess or obtain certification in x-ray scanning, metal detector and wand, audio and visual surveillance system, First Aid, CPR, and AED. LANGUAGE AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend general correspondence and memos; ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with judges, magistrates, attorneys, staff, families, youth, public, and outside agencies; ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, problem solve, and assess security issues are all required for this position. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Attention to detail; ability to work independently and under pressure; and, ability to maintain confidentiality is required.
