Conduct field investigations; inspect properties for violations; attempt to resolve any violations; issue and post warning notices, notices of violation, corrective notices, orders to comply, and related documentation for code violations; and perform all required follow-up functions to gain compliance, including letters, inspections, calls, meetings, and discussions to ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances. Maintain accurate documentation and case files on all permit applications, investigations, inspections, enforcement actions, and other job-related activities. Issue permits or documents including building permits, demolition permits, special use permits, site plan approvals, certificates of occupancy, certificates of compliance, and stop work orders. Work with architects and engineers to ensure proper compliance with Oneida Indian Nation ordinances, building codes, regulations, and standards. Testify in any court proceedings arising from inspections performed. Attend meetings; provide research and documentation for meetings; interpret and explain Oneida Indian Nation ordinances, codes, regulations, and standards relating to zoning, land use, nuisance, housing, and building codes to residents, contractors, and businesses on Nation lands. Monitor construction/project sites; conduct work area assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions and coordinate with managers to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards. Perform other duties as required. To be successful as a Code Enforcement Officer, you'll need: An Associate's Degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
