Participate in the A2LA Annual Conference. Opportunities exist for travel to testing and/or calibration laboratories on the behalf of A2LA. This position does not include hands-on technical work. Requirements A2LA may provide exceptions to educational requirements for veterans who demonstrate the ability to perform the duties listed in this job posting. A successful candidate for these positions typically meets the following criteria: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field of study (Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Life Science, Biology, Chemistry, etc.) preferred. Other degrees may be considered. Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills. Ability to work independently and remain self-motivated. Must be able to work well with all levels of individuals ranging from administrators and physicians to indigent patients. Officers must be able to think quickly on their feet, apply common sense, local, state and federal laws, VH policies and be problem solvers. Officers are required to exhibit customer excellence at all times and model the VH mission, vision and values. Each officer properly and completely documents all rounds; writes the necessary reports about all incidents; submits reports by the end of the shift during which the pertinent incident occurred. Officers must be proficient in the use of the RMS Public Safety incident computer-based system and the VH Risk Qual System. Officer must know when to communicate information confidentially and which method of communication should be used for the type of communication being given. Each officer immediately corrects problems or writes appropriate work orders or memos or reports problem to safety officers and others when safety related problems are observed; Public Safety Officers inspect fire extinguishers and eye wash stations and conduct or assist others in conducting other safety and Public Safety inspections such as Environment of Care Rounds as assigned; test and check alarm system equipment and other equipment as assigned to make sure they are functioning correctly; perform fire watches when requested; monitors Camera systems, Infant Abduction systems, Fire Alarm systems, Medical Gas Alarms, and generator alarms. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU: Have an empathetic, positive, and caring attitude Are committed to making a difference Enjoy collaborating with a team Are able to use good judgment and problem solve Are an active listener Possess and demonstrate integrity WHAT WE OFFER: $5,000 starting bonus Salary commensurate with experience Competitive benefits package - see more at ******************************************** Community Outreach opportunities- see more information on how we get involved at ********************************************* Duties and Responsiblities On an assigned shift, operates a police vehicle, bicycle, or walks to observe for criminal and traffic violations; Looks for suspicious activities and checks on suspicious persons; Checks on disturbance of law and order and arrests suspects who violate the law; Writes and reports incidents; Responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints; Serves warrants and testifies in court; Reports unsafe conditions existing in street or other public facilities; Assists in criminal investigations along with presenting evidence in court; Assists in interviewing victims and witnesses, prepares property and evidence duties, records and issues evidence in court cases; Maintains a physical presence at events to prevent behavioral problems; and Assists in preparing detailed reports. Requirements Candidates interested in this role must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED), be certified by the State, certify in the operation of certain equipment as required by the justice system, possess a valid appropriate driver's license, and live or be willing to move within a 50 mile radius of Winchester. Other qualifications include the ability to read laws and policies, write incident reports and other documents using proper grammar, punctuation and spelling, and the ability to speak effectively using correct English. Some knowledge of police methods, practices and procedures, the geography of the City and locations of important landmarks/buildings. Successful candidates must also have the ability to pass an annual physical examination and physical ability assessment.
