Direct Clinical Services
Develop initial comprehensive assessment data including clients presenting problems, mental status, relevant psychiatric, medical and developmental histories to make decisions regarding diagnosis (per DSM-V), treatment objectives and ongoing treatment plans and/or to provide information and make appropriate referrals to other treatment resources in the community.
Provide 12 hours at minimum group therapy per week and patient load. Also provide family and individual therapy sessions as needed.
Implement crisis or pre-crisis intervention procedures with potentially suicidal, homicidal, or severely disabled clients. Where appropriate referrals will be made to consulting psychiatrists or inpatient psychiatric facilities to prevent further destabilization.
Interview collateral contacts, previous and current treatment professionals, and significant others, to further establish a database for assessment and ongoing treatment plan as needed.
Clarify priority problems, goals for change, and session limits according to agency policy to assist clients in developing appropriate expectations for treatment in relationship to the agency. Use a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment approaches and interventions to change targeted behaviors and stabilize adaptive behaviors with individuals, couples and families.
Manage the termination process and discharge planning to enhance clients' abilities to retain treatment changes and/or use other available support services.
May organize, plan and participate in therapy groups for clients and/or their families, as assigned.
Client Information System
Establish appropriate professional files, including: comprehensive assessments, progress notes, treatment objectives and plans, previous treatment records, clients' consent to current treatment and for exchange of information.
Complete required administrative forms. Collect necessary information for billing and fee collection.
Provide necessary client information to other agencies or health care providers to coordinate services to identified clients.
Training Activities/Professional Growth
Supervisor and employee mutually identify professional goals that will enhance job related skills.
Participate in ongoing agency meetings, committees and special projects to enhance professional expertise.
Complete mandatory education requirements by specified deadlines.

Job Description
The Occupational Therapist's role is to provide clinical expertise and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team; to assist in maintaining quality communication and operations in the clinic office, and to provide quality care to clients receiving occupational therapy services. They will also assist in maintaining the quality of outpatient therapy services provided by Skill Sprout International, in addition to providing support and consultation for other disciplines within their areas of expertise. This position reports directly to the Regional Rehab Manager.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Evaluates and treats clients with a wide variety of needs.
• Completes documentation of all therapeutic services in a timely manner including maintaining data collection on therapeutic goals.
• Supervises COTA staff providing direct treatment to clients and their families both in and outside of therapy sessions.
• Fosters exceptional relationships with clients and their caregivers by addressing the family's priorities when developing interventions.
• Assists with recruiting talented therapists for our growing caseload as needed
• Augments current behavioral home programs with strategies to improve teaching life skills and independence
• Consults with other disciplines to promote a model of trans-disciplinary care for clients.
• Acts as mentor to therapists who are new to the field and/or pediatrics within the company
• Consult with other clinicians inside and outside of Skill Sprout to enhance continuity of care for clients as needed
• Design and deliver parent training seminars as needed
• Consultation on product development when needed
• Assists the Director of Rehabilitation in marketing for new clients and referral sources, as well as recruitment of high quality therapists
• Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications

The Occupational Therapist will have the following experience and attributes:
• Minimum of a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy
• Certification and State licensure as an Occupational Therapist in good standing
• Previous experience working with children is strongly preferred.
• FOR ILLINOIS APPLICANTS: Early Intervention provider credential strongly preferred.
• FOR TEXAS APPLICANTS: Credentialed with Early Childhood Intervention services.
• Proficient in using technology as communication and reporting tool
• Strong personnel management skills with a high degree of self-initiation
• Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details

*Some regular travel may be required in this position as supervision requirements may warrant onsite supervision visits. Mileage is reimbursed after the first 30 miles one way.
