The Associate Electrophysiology Nurse provides nursing care to Electrophysiology patients in the procedural lab. This position serves as the entry nurse position in the Electrophysiology Lab. The associate nurse performs at a task-oriented skill level, and performs troubleshooting and complex tasks under the guidance of experienced nurses. This position includes an orientation to the nurse monitor, nurse circulator and the scrub role for electrophysiology procedures in the lab and the hybrid OR. Associate nursing responsibilities include safety checks, equipment management, product entry, patient documentation in Epic, administration of medications, and moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, rhythm interpretation, assisting in EP procedures in the Hybrid OR, assisting with anesthetized patients, patient preparation, scrubbing into sterile procedures and sheath management. During and after orientation, staff are responsible for seeking assistance with responsibilities outside of their current knowledge level and are active participants with area leadership to create a plan for advancing practice past task orientated care.

Responsibilities
Tests, monitors, and maintains safe equipment handling for proper and safe operation.
Properly uses Epic for patient care and procedural documentation.
Administers intravenous and oral medications to patients as needed for Moderate Sedation or Anesthesia Support.
Prepares patients and equipment for electrophysiology procedures by preparing the site of entry, draping patient, arranging sterilized instruments and catheters, and calibrating, and setting-up monitoring/mapping equipment, pressure transducers, and tubing.
Obtains and records hemodynamic, electrical, and angiographic data by operating hemodynamic and electrical amplifiers and digital and line fluoroscopic equipment.
Performs associate nurse circulating functions during the procedure.
Develops and contributes to a plan of nursing for the patient's care.
Assists in the collection of arterial and venous blood samples and respiratory gases.
Monitors patient's vital signs.
Participates in life-saving measures such as defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Properly decrements supplies from inventory and restocks supplies when time allows.
Performs sheath removal and manual pressure as needed for hemostasis.
May perform scrub role for surgical implantation of pacemakers, interval cardiac defibrillators and cardiac ablation procedures.
Assists with the department's required quality programs.
Participates in a rotational call schedule for procedures after scheduled hours, limited weekend hours and holiday coverage.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status.
*This is a PRN position for Utah- West, Tooele County and Salt Lake*
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
Current provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Minimum 2 years' experience as an RN required
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's age-specific needs.
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiological stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
Facilitates the patient's transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Great full time position working with the geriatric population in patient homes and facilities. No nights or weekends. Evaluation and management of new residents.
