Job Summary and Qualifications
As a highly-skilled and compassionate Cath Lab registered nurse you will provide assistance with all invasive cardiac, vascular and interventional procedures. You will demonstrate clinical competency, nursing judgment, teaching skills, and a commitment to providing quality patient care. In this role:
You will be responsible for all testing and therapeutics that take place in the cath lab. These procedures include but are not limited to: cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker, tilt-table, angioplasty, stent, dialysis catheter, nephrostomy and ureteral tube, IVC filter, IABP, pericardiocentesis, and stress testing procedures.
You will facilitate effective communication among departmental staff to ensure interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to patient care.
You will appropriate SBAR process for hand-off communication.
You will assist the patient through all aspects of the procedure, including transport, site preparation, sterile procedure, patient monitoring, and hemostasis following removal of catheter or sheath, and return to room.
You will manage emergent cases.
You will maintain accurate, timely and compliant patient records and complete all paperwork associated with these procedures.
You will prepare tests for physician interpretation.
What qualifications you will need:
Current State of Idaho RN license in good standing
Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
Two to three years of Cath Lab experience required
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS) within six months of hire
Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support or obtain within 90 days of date of hire

Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Admin Supervisor on every shift. Charge RNs do not take an assignment. Also have a resource RN and triage RN. Resource nurse and triage nurse may start shift with no patients, triage does fill up quickly. Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Do not have tele techs, have tele capability on the unit but would rarely need- will typically tx patients out to higher level of care if needing - EFM System: Centricity - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7-7. Resource and Charge 0645-1845, 1845-0645, First schedule travelers will fill in the holes, the next schedule travelers can give preference and they will try to work with them but they will fit them in to the schedule around core staff. Do NOT guarantee Block Scheduling- can not work 6 shifts in a row - Weekend Requirements: No minimum requirement. Based on unit needs and requests - Holiday Requirements: No set requirement for travel RNs. Regular Staff have a set holiday rotation and there are 3 groups.
